Microsoft Sidewinder precision pro and XP.

Has anyone been able to get this joystick to work with win xp? the software i have is is the old 98 version. and microsoft's websit / support system is tickin me off and confusing me.. so i was wondering if anyone can direct me to some sort of patch for the software if XP is supported

Go to control panel>(classic view)>Game Controllers>Add>And pick yours there. Kinda hard to find but its there.

does windows have the driver or is the disc still needed ( i already tried that and "found new hardwares" started popin up and it wont find the drivers)

Windows XP already has the dirvers for all the sidewinders. When you plug it in select Sidewinder auto detect.

Don't use the software that comes with it- it is incompatible with XP AFAIK. As already stated, you don't need it, as XP auto-detects the device.

If uses the gameport on the sound card then it won't detect it, but USB all you need to do is plug it in.

Im Aparently MISSING SOMETHING HEAR... microsoft is starting to blow.. :damnyou:
i did the auto detect thing, and all it did was just sit their. Its in the computers USB port and its just kindof their. ahhh.......
this is what i get when i try to install the drivers from when the found new device wizard comes up.

Are you using USB or that bulky gameport thing? All my sidewinders work great. I have the gamepad and joystick and had no problems in XP with there drivers. Make sure you have all updates and stuff. ???

you mean the windows update? that might be the thing.. i havent updated windows in a while. yes im using USB. SB's gameport never really worked to well for me.

Put the Win XP CD in your driver and try to manually install the drivers.
