need help with win98se
Every time I turn on my computer, I get error messages while it is loading. First during the win98 logo thingy it says that 3 files are missing (I just hit enter to skip them) (the errors are in a dos screen). Then when it loads up to the desktop it says that it is missing another file that is needed for windows networking. I have located all of the missing files in the NET9.cab file on the win98se disk but I need to know what folder to drop the files into. If someone with win98se tell me where they go I would really appreciate it
![]() Here is the list of missing files: (dos screen) VNETSUP.VXD VREDIR.VXD DFS.VXD (desktop error) MSNP32.DLL dxdiag sez that I have win98se 4.10, build 2222 (if that helps).

Re: need help with win98se
I don't use Win98, but I know how to fix it
![]() Place that NET9.cab file into the windows/system folder Also, you have to delete "Network Client for Microsoft" within Control Panel--->Network and reinstall it again |

Re: need help with win98se
Install again win98se without delete your actual copy and that could solve the problem.

Re: need help with win98se
type at the run menu sfc. This utility searches and extracts files, install them in their location IIRC. Let me check in my w98 machine.....ok the files locations are:
c:\windows\system\VNETSUP.VXD c:\windows\system\VREDIR.VXD c:\windows\system\DFS.VXD c:\windows\system\MSNP32.DLL |

Re: need help with win98se
Ok I dumped the files in the system folder and I am deleting the "client for micro$oft networks" thingy and I'm gonna reboot to see if it fixes it. Thx for the help everyone
![]() edit: after about 3 reboots (stupid win98) it works!!! . No more error messages. Now I can turn on the comp and grab something from the kitchen while it is loading and not have to hit buttons to get it to load up .
