Re: Spyware removers

I really *really* recommend Spybot: Search & Destroy. The cnet review here: http://reviews.cnet.com/4505-3514_7-20848563.html gives some good reasons for why AdAware's reign has come to an end (mainly b/c it's become bloated software and now does, for a price, what spybot does better for free). Additionally, I recommend that everyone checks out this website: http://aumha.org/a/noads.htm which performs a rather thorough spyware scan as well and catches a couple of things even spybot misses. It was recommended to me through one of the computer-related mailing lists I'm subscribed to (this particular one being one of the oldest and best known, and therefore reputable).

Spybot S&B is a must have. Between that and Ad-Aware you'll pretty much nuke any cr*pware you will stumble upon.

Also using the IE-SPYAD registry file will prevent many of the crappy sites to even put anything on your comp. Download, add to registry and set option in "restricted sites" to ultra paranoid

In addition having progs like; BHODemon, Startuo List & HijackThis are very usefull. All are freeware, and can be found HERE

Finally make sure to visit SpywareInfo frequently. Great resource on anti-cr*pware progs, and with a great board to boot
