Counter-Strike Annoyance

Anyone know how to get rid of the screen in the top left that pops up when you start a game/server? It looks like in lingers after the screen resolution change.

Usually I hit esc and resume the game and it's gone but I'm looking for a permanant fix now. I think I did it before but can't remember now for the life of me.

and it only happens on Nvidia Based cards.....(oh my old Voodoo 3)

hm... try using Direct 3D

n never put (-console) behind the path shortcut

erm, -console is a must for any serious gamer/admin. If you know how to bind etc. Can you post a screen?

you can try running in 32 bit mode. Put -32bpp in your shortcut.

well i don't recall having that problem with the game, and i have an nvidia card. i use opengl and at 800x600 and 640x480 it worked fine for me. maybe it only happenes at high resolutions.

so thats how you bind stuff. i couldn't figure out how to get it to work

Happens to me aswell , on every OpenGL running card .
just hit escape and then "resume" cause until CS1.6 and/pr CS:CZ are out this cant be fixed

and the console is super important , keep it around

i guess it hangs from the game or patches someone installed. earlier i had this problem. after i bought another cs game - the problem is gone

Reich, its like this - Everytime i start a LAN game (!! only lan ! not online) a static copy of the menu sized 640x480 of course appers on top of my normal CS screen (1024x768) .. sorta of a black block over the screen .. and i have to escape and resume the game to get rid of it .

Same problem here with my GF2mx, by the way I´m not using console but it´s very useful, so... is there any fix???

I have seen none and im around since CS1.3

It will be gone in CS1.6 and/or Counter-Strike:Condition Zero .. or even in CS2 (I hope they are making a HL2 port)

Well, problem solved!!!!!
just take off -console, then go to autoexec.cfg inside cstrike folder, then add the following to the first line:
console 1

Thats it!!!!

problem is that many league servers don't allow the autoexec.cfg

Also i don't mind pressing ESC 2 times.

That shouldnt be a problem nowadays .. since every command you run if being checked by VAC (Valve Anti-Cheat) and WWCL or HL/CS Guard ..

I dont think a command for enabling the console would be blocked .

they don't block the commands! They block the autoexec actually

That means they're blocking a single command , exec

its used to run those cfg files ..

So they even block buyscripts ? thats .. dumb . but i guess it creates "equality" .. M A Y B E .

sorta like the CPL configs! U can't use the autoexec! but they have some custom buy scripts already!
