My partition table is gone
I turned on my computer today and to my surprised found that my harddrive has been wiped clean. Specifically, my partition table, boot record, and boot sectors has all been deleted. My suspicion as to the problem is the installation of norton AV which I had install a week earlier. I'm pretty sure norton is the only program on my computer capable of modifying the partition and boot record files.
I'm now in the process of recovering whatever's left of the 20gb drive. Does anyone know of any good partition/boot program that allows for the creation of a new partition table without destroying existing data?

PowerQuest Partition Magic can do it...I had many problems with Norton AV when I install it detects a "virus" even tho the file it thinks is a virus is apart of Norton AV and when I restarted my pc and gives me an error message and I couldn't open any programs
besides that use Partition Magic. I really don't think Norton cuased your problem could of been a virus

To be honest, I actually experienced what you people are talking about now. It just happened one day and I couldn't access anything on my secondary drive and it was slow on my primary drive. I don't think I did anything special to cause it either.

Without a partition table, and boot record, is anything still recoverable at all? Well, if the FAT is still intact... maybe, but I didn't know that there are tools capable of recovering data in such a state.
