problems with nero

i am trying to burn windows media player 9 to cd-rw, but for some reason, i have been getting error messages and it refuses to burn it. i have also tried burning other things to the disk, but it still won't let me. the simulation works ok tho. here is the errors that i am getting (in order):
medium speed error
invalid write state
could not perform end track
session fixation error
could not perform fixation
session fixation error
could not perform fixation
burn process failed at 4x (600 kb/s)

i haven't had this problem until today. all of those messages popped up within about 1/2 sec. is my burner dying, or is my cd-rw bad? i don't think it would be the burner, because i have only had it for about 4 months, but it does have problems with burning cd-r's above 12x. the burner that i have is a cendyne (aopen) 48x12x50.

edit: i tried a brand new cd-rw and it still didn't work, so i'm gonna try reinstalling nero.

the session fixation errors usually mean that the CD-RW can't close. Try another CD-RW or a CD-R, and come back with your findings

i tried all 3 of the cd-rw's that i have and it gives me the same error message. one of the cd-rw's was still shrinkwrapped, so i don't think it was bad. i tried reinstalling nero and the same error message pops up. the weird thing is that it doesn't even write anything before it gives me the message. it buffers the info to my ram then when its done doing that, it spins up the cd burner to the needed speed. the light flickers for about 1-2 secs then i get flooded with error messages, so it's not a closing the disk prob, cuz it didnt write anything to the disk. i guess i'll have to try one of my expensive 48x cd-r's (i don't like using them if i don't have to)

nope. i tried burning epsxe seperatly and the wmp9 install file and epsxe together, but it doesn't work i got it to burn yesterday, but it was with cd-r's. i also tried erasing the cd-rw, but it gave me a medium speed error. i tried erasing it on my dad's burner and it worked fine (creative 8x4x32).

Try leaving the session open. Un-Check close cd. Also clean your drive with a cd-rom cleaner from some place like BestBuy (or whatever you call it.)

no, they work for data too. i burned wma files + emulators and roms and the disk has been working since i made it. here is a pic of the front & back of my cd-rw case thingy so you can see the info on it.

edit: i'll try the unclosed session option. i also have a cd lens cleaner so i will try that too. thx for the help & ideas everyone

edit2: nero has both a multisession option and a non finalize disk option. i will try both of them one at a time to see if they help.

edit3: i got it to work!! i had to unchek finalize disk and leave the multisession uncheked (i think). it *seems* to work ok. it reports the size of the burned part of the disk correctly, 13.6 mb. i hope this isn't a permanent problem...

Try burning on a cdr. If it used to work properly as you say, and won't burn even on a cdr, then somethnig's wrong with your drive.

Try installing a different burner. If it burns, it's just nero. Weird, tho.

Well I had issues with my Burner (MSI 4801-A2) not being able to write at full speed, even on so called compatible media. A firmware update solved that. Maybe hat will help in this case? Or maybe the RW itself is damaged

well i tried 3 different cd-rw disks (1 previously unopened) and it still didnt work properly until i messed with the settings, which i didn't have to do before. i already updated the firmware from version 1.01 to 1.04. with the old one, it would NOT burn cd-r's above 12x at all, with the 1.04, it seems to burn above 12x about half the time. i had it burn at either 24x or 32x, but that was burning files off of my hard drive. the last time i tried burning onto cd-r's, i did a direct copy (no image file) of a cd and then it refused to go above 12x. the cd-r's that i have are high speed sonys that go up to 48x. i got a 10 pack of them (cases included) for about $7-8.

I had a aopen drive a while back which gave me the same errors. After spending days at the aopen forum and unable to find a solution, I decided to buy a new burner and use the old one as a regular reader. Never buy aopen products.

most people in my place says that Aopen CD-ROM is sucks, but I never heard people complaining about Aopen CD-RW, maybe you should try using your CD-RW in another computer and see if it can burn or not.
