Nvidia removes nFORCE 2.42 drivers

Quote:
Nvidia has pulled the nFORCE 2.42 drivers and reverted back to version 2.03.
There appear to be some problems with the IDE driver. Instructions on how to remove the 2.41 and 2.42 drivers are on their site

It seems not only the IDE driver was ****ed up .. though they said they are working on a fixed up version which should be released soon .

I didn't have that many problems with the IDE drivers, but then again I haven't tried burning a CD. I *do* have the Apple Quicktime bug, but then again I don't have that many MOVs. I *did* notice that Windows 2000 was booting quicker, so that isn't too bad in the end.

Nforce2 had some problems with IDE drivers? I didn't know that, I thought nforce2 was the most stable board for AMD processor.

hmm newer isn't always better. I just tried the latest ATI drivers 3.4 and it made Pete's OGL run at 7 FPS and then crash and burn. Back to 3.2 or is it 3.1? I think 3.1

Update: I tried burning a CD with the 2.41 drivers and I couldn't so I uninstalled them. I didn't exactly follow the instructions that were posted on the nVidia site so I had a few technical difficulties, however the instructions do provide solutions to almost all possible scenarios.

I've burned cd's with them, they worked fine. When I first got C&C Generals I installed, then put cd1 in, but the nvidia drivers fcked up the cd protection, so I reverted to windows for now.

I downloaded and installed the drivers when they were available. Then winxp wouldn't shut down properly. It would get freeze while shutting down. So I uninstalled the Nvidia IDE drivers and reinstalled the default windows IDE drivers. Worked fine ever since and cdr burning works fine.

I still didn't like the weird HD shutdown "bug" when you soft-rebooted. In the end, while there is a bit of performance gain with the the 2.41 drivers, it isn't that substancial.

It's great. Stable and fast even in it's overclocked state. I'd overclock it more, but it's getting rather hot here in California. Official support for 400mhz fsb Athlon's is a plus.

Does it have RAID? I'm having trouble finding an NForce board that has both a RAID and 400 MHZ BUS support. I seem to be able to only find one or the other. :/
