New sound card, but...

I just bought a new sound card, not knowing it has such horrible XP compatability, and isn't detected on linux. I have a Aureal Vortex 2 AU8830 now. If someone got a similar card working well on XP, could someone tell me where to find the drivers.

cause I didn't feel like paying for 5.1 surround sound support, and I hated the Sound Blaster 16 when it was in ISA version

I found alot of websites about this type of chip (even a decicated domain name site www.vortexofsound.com ). It seems very popular for non-XP users. Since Aureal ran out of business, microsoft picked up the drivers and make them compatable with XP. There is a control panel replacement that I can use, so everything us hunky-dorry now

It isn't an uknown card. It actually kills alot of cards in terms of hardware specs, and because they're so powerful, Creative bought them out because they were being beaten by Aureal. If it weren't for aureal's a3d, eax wouldn't exist.

Kirby: I had a similar story to yours with my au8810 under XP.
