DivX Help plz

I am having trouble with a DivX video Movie file I downloaded. It plays well untill about a quarter way througth the video, the audio and video get out of sync, ( the audio plays ahead of the video).
I put all the settings in divX to the lowest quality, and the same happens. Is this cause my computer isnt powerfull enougth to play the clip or is it just the way the video clip was produced?

I think it was just the way the movie was encoded. Some movies do that, they slowly go out of sync.

The to software-codecs&filters and dl it.
If this doesn't work ask it in the Divx Digest forum as they might know.

I have the Nimo pack and I still have this same problem. I sometimes just close the program and seek to where I left off

I also have the same problem with a video file that I have.

I checked the video file for any freeze frames or corrupted frames with Koala Video player and no errors were found.

The problem keeps occuring in the same places where the audio would be out of sync with the video.

this usually happens if the bitrate of the divx is higher than necessary for that resolution. in short: the guy who encoded sucks :P
you can try re-encoding, or using ffdshow, which is a very optimized divx decoder (it encodes a lot of other stuff too).

well I had these problems with some divx, and it's just that the guy who encoded the divx didn't sync the video and the sound in that place correctly

What version of DivX are u using?
Cos I had this problem before, when I updated to divX 5. it was solved by using an older version(DivX 3.1 alpha).
I find that 3.1 alpha version is best with older movies, cos they were all encoded using this codec.

I would try lowering the version but the movies i have are divx5. I tried to install ffdirectshow but the only thing it did was make my video choppy. I unistalled it and the movie is smooth but the problem its still there.

Well Im using DivX 5 right now, I also tried DivX 4, but that never worked either. I also have defragmented my HD quite a few time already, that never worked too. Ill try out DivX 3.11.

i haven't heard of ANYONE who got here movies slower because of ffdshow...you need to mess with the settings, you probably had postprocessing on or sharpening or whatever.

Yeah, i checked it again. I had deactivated the postprocesing but precisely the sharpening was making my movie choppy. The rare thing is that it ocurred with the default value for the sharpening. Well, i guess i'll mess with it a little more and see what more i can get

ffdshow is HIGHLY optimized, and supports a lot of codecs. current alpha version has (still crappy) experimental MPEG1 support, which would really r0x0r with postprocessing and all.
i'm glad i could help ^^

Maybe its your audio codec..? .. Try using the latest version of Fraunhofer MPEG layer-3 (..i think) codec.
