Dos only game in Windows

I'm trying to play Crusader: no regret, but in windows it don't even install, and I don't have dos sound driver. So, is there any way to make it run in windows? (I've tried "Dosbox", but it doesn't work)

Unless oyu get a proper DOS emulator, no. It should work in VMWare.
If that don't work, I'm afraid you is screwed, as I have that game, and I know it don't like Window (even 95/98)

VMWare is an x86 emu. You can install any x86 based (linux Windows/MSDOS) operating system on a virtual machine run under Windows or Linux.
It emulates you soundcard as an SB16, and your Graphis card as an S3 virge, so say goodbye to any acceleated features, but it works.

IIRC isn't that just a slowdown program, not an emulator?

from http://bochs.sourceforge.net --

Bochs is a highly portable open source IA-32 (x86) PC emulator written in C++, that runs on most popular platforms. It includes emulation of the Intel x86 CPU, common I/O devices, and a custom BIOS. Currently, bochs can be compiled to emulate a 386, 486 or Pentium CPU. Bochs is capable of running most Operating Systems inside the emulation including Linux, Windows® 95, DOS, and recently Windows® NT 4. Bochs was written by Kevin Lawton and is currently maintained by this project.

Yes, I saw that in the VMWare page. But I have Windows 2000 instaled, so no problem.

hi!

If you are using Win2k try "forcedos", that helps atleast for some older dos games, if they don't work in the normal console.

If that doesn't work, i would recommend VirtualPC.
I think VirtualPC has a higher chance to play old DOS games, since it completly emulate a S3 graphic card, which VMware doesn't (You see the difference in SuSE Linux) (Also the VirtualPC trial-time-limit is larger, and it's easier to use).
I can't recommend Bochs, it's a nice open source project, but i don't think that you have a chance to get anything (beside the os itself) to work in it.

Cu, JNS
