WinXP doesnt install!

I just bought winXP Home Edition and things arent looking good.
I insert the cd, it boots up, then the setup screen comes up. I press enter i.e install windows, the it asks me to format or leave it, than i format it (Fat 32), then is does scandisk, then the problem comes. While its copying files to harddrive, the cd says that it cant find certain files, it comes up quite a few times. The same thing happens to both my cd drives.
Right now i using the college computers.
Help me!

Not really. Since you tested with two different drives, if cleaning doesn't work I'd go back to the store and ask for a replacement.

My uncle had the same problem. He tried several CD-ROMs too. I guess it was just his hardware, since it installed on his son's computer (just for testing). You try doing the compatability check before you install?

I while ago I had a problem but not as hard as this. I installed XP but the defragmenter didn't work, after doing a researh I found out that the troublemaker was my CD-ROM corrupting the CD copied files, the I reinstalled Xp from my burner and problem solved.

Unhappy

I tried everything, windows xp still doesnt install, i spent nearly 3 days trying to get to install in anyway possible. I cleaned the XP CD, tried installing with all my cd drives, tried upgrading form ME to Xp, made my cd drives run in pio mode, and that still never worked. I copied the windows XP cd, and tried installing XP by using the copied cd, and that never worked either. I give up. I going back to the store and ask for a replacement.
