This article from Slashdot.org once again portrays the crowd of open source program suggestions available (in specific) on the Windows platform. It's too much effort to go over all the threads but I suppose if you want to kill time then .....
1. The Best of Windows Open Source Software? http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/09/25/2252231 Some of the extracted links among those threads: 2. The Open CD Project - Software List http://www.theopencd.org/thelist/ 3. Open Source Software in a Windows Environment (good!) http://www.jairlie.com/oss/suggestedapplications.html 4. GNU Software for Windows http://www.gnusoftware.com/ilink/ilink.cgi http://gnuwin.epfl.ch/ 5. thegoldenear's Recommended Software for Windows http://www.thegoldenear.connectfree....e-software.htm I have learned of a lot new programs available from those slashdot threads, probably more than enough...... I suppose .Anyways, enjoy the tools if you find them useful. |

Absolutely, all the programs mentioned on the /. article are great. When I do have to boot into that evil Windows, I take comfort that I use Open Source software as much as I can, or at least software that M$ hasn't had any hand in creating. MS Office is NOT installed on my Windows partition at all, for example. I use OpenOffice exclusively.
Isn't freedom of software great?
