How to get DivX 5.0 to play ONLY DivX 5.0 files?
Does anyone else notice problems when playing certain older videos? Sometimes I get a green film in dark areas and gradients are blended very poorly yet they were fine under DivX 4.11 or 3.11. I was thinking of maybe installing DivX 5.0 and then older versions but I'm not too sure how that would work. Any clues?

Try the new divx 5.01 which was released.. I think it was a bug fix..

if you want to make divx5 to play divx5 file,
just rename all the movie you got in the format of divx5 to something like *.divx5 *heheh I know it's not creative thinking, but you can rename it to anything as extention you like* and when you open choose divx 5.0 to play and make sure to check box*make a tick or a cross in the box* that say always use this program to open this type of file. hehe done, now when ever you open file that maked by divx 5, is opened by divx 5 |

That doesn't work. That just uses the playa, the codec is still in use for the other files in WMP.

Check doom9.org. I saw in their forums some registry hacks to change this behavior in DivX5. Didn't test them yet, so I'm not sure if it works!
