windows XP pro problems. (game question)

for the past couple of months ive been trying to play some games on my Win XP account but i had to luck. for example, im trying to play the sims but when i run it it says something like not enough memory and harddrive space, even though i closed almost every running program. When my brother runs the game on his account(which is the admin account) it runs fine. same with the other games we have on this computer (half life, warcraft3 beta)

does anyone know why games dont run on my account? is it because im not the admin? if so, i think that is really ***. only letting the admin play games and not the other people who are using the computer....

If your brother can run that games using his account, this is maybe the problem with your account. Why dont you ask your brother to change your account type to admin.
By the way, there are some games are incompatible with winxp especially old games.

Even with a guest access you should be able to run programs that are installed on the computer. You just won't be able to install stuff.

Make sure when you're on with your bro that he logs off first. Then you go into your account. Don't just switch users.

Maybe your brother activates the disk quota or sets the virtual memory too low?

my brother never logs off his account. he just switches users when hes done.
well it seems like almost everything in the program files file doesnt work on my account. for some reason AIM works.. but stuff like rpg maker doesnt work on my account but it does on his. when i run gamespy arcade it crashes on my side but works perfectly fine on his. i could go on and on about this....

about him changing my account to admin.. i dont think he will do that.

Then you'd better make sure he logs off. That stuff takes a lot of memory, and leaves little behind for others. Your bro should know better, tho' he seems a bit selfish

Your brother is totally evil
You must beg him to change his attitude

Ask him to change you to at least a power user. That way you can install programs and stuff but can't make system-wide changes.

Just the case of putting your username to the Power Users group.

you don't need that, just tell him to make you as a normal user account. that is limited account, but higher than guess account.
and it doesn't matter what account he make for you, you had had to make sure that he LOG OFF HIS ACCOUNT. what happen to you is that he's running his account at the sametime running your account at the sametime so it use hell lot of memory, in this case I would think you need something like 512MB of Ram, coz that's like a server. hehe.
anyway if he don't log off his account, shut down the pc and then log in to your account. so you get all your memory you need. hehe.

In the Control Panel, under User Accounts, there is the option of the liberties given to users, but that point is moot.

Get your brother to LOG OFF instead of SWITCH USER! That will remedy!
