Are you saying you're wanting to network two modems together? You won't be able to do that without the slowness of a dial-up, you'll be needing network cards instead. If you're just talking about a regular dial-up connect for both of you, then you should have an ip already assigned. Try using winipcfg to discover your ip, if you're using a win9x/ME system. For XP you can check in your network connections. For 2k I forget where you look for your ip, sorry.

if you're really using dial up on the status just click on details tab and you will see, between other things, your server and client ip.

Use the Dial-Up Server feature in windows it let other computers (in this case your friend's computer) stablish a connection to your computer via a modem, I haven't used this but guess it should work on what you want. check it

Well according what I read, You set a password on your computer so the computer attepting to connect your computer may stablish the connection, also enable the allow caller access option and in the server settings toggle on default and PPP server types. Hope it helps you

You won't be able to a direct peer to peer connection with a modem.

What you have to do is to set your computer up as a Counter Strike server and have your friend dial up to that server.

I have only tried this with Quake II, but there is usually an option in the game that allows you to set your computer as a server.

Once you set your computer as the server, you need to get the IP address of the server.

By the way what OS are you using? Different OS has different ways of getting the IP address. For Win9x, the IP address can be obtain through the ipconfig program.

Once you have the IP address of the server tell your friend the server IP address. In the game, have your friend connect to that server IP address.
