does anyone know where to get system.ini for windows 98 ?

a friend of mine erase that without knowing and now his windows 98 can't even start.

Looks like he'll just have to reformat and reinstall. And learn not to touch system files next time.

then, it's impossible to just copy and paste the file into windows directory ?

yep its impossible. That file contained all the data of his pc. Copying another would not help as his data and the copied is not the same

The only solution is to reinstall win98 and start all over

He doesn't necessarily have to format. He can just re-install Windows on top of his existing one. It'll fix the error while still maintaining his system settings.

Tell him nxt time to backup a copy of win.ini and system.ini so if again accidentaly do it its safe.

Well, if you got a backup program that backed up system.ini, you wouldn't be in this mess
