I use it at work because I need it but I do NOT want it on my pc at home. I really dont like it.
*Incompatible with lots and lots of software *New GUI: slow, and not user-friendly at all *Includes Product activation and other monopolist-stuff *Lots of little annoyances make one BIG annoyance |

Depends what you are doing. If you still want to use VGS and Bleem!, or are using MS-Dos games, then don't, or dual boot. I would reccommend it tho. You micht wanna put another stick of 128 in your machine first tho.

..
i like it, ive had 2k and 98 before it. I have to say 2k was the best but sadly i dont have the disc anymore. WinXP is good, and i use it for a lot of things, games, psp, photoshop, emu, and loads of other programs. It pretty good, i havent installed 1 driver since i put it on except the nVIDIA detonator ones, it had most of them on for modem, printer etc

hmm
i dont see how the GUI is slow. ive only got an 800MHz and its the same speed and a hell of a lot smoother than 98 and 2000, an its quite user friendly, it has short cuts to all the most used programs etc, oh and it hasnt crashed once in the 2 weeks ive had it on, by which time 98 had crashed about 10 times, and Ctrl Alt and delete actually work :O

Before I dual boot anything, I need to fix my hard drive. I was afraid of compatability issues because I use alot of old games dating back to Windows 3.0!! And second of all, all those security hazards with the Universal Plug and Play

The GUI? I have a friend who has a P200 w 196MB RAM, and WinXP runs faster than 98 on his machine: That's including all the GUI 'enhancements'

I like winxp pro..
1. It has great memory management. Win98se ran out of memory sometimes, and I had 768 megs!!?.. Right now I have 256 megs of DDr ram and it hasn't run out.. 2. A lot more stable than win98.. Left it on for a whole month with no crashes and resources are still high.. Win98 crashed on me if I left it on for 2 days.. 3. It's got support through updates.. Win98 is slowly being fazed out by MS and support for it is slowly dissappearing if not already.. 4. Newer software and games WILL run on winxp.. I don't use really old software and games.. 5. It loads up heck of a lot faster than win98se on my machine.. Under 10 seconds.. One thing though, make sure you have hardware that is compatible with winxp.. Check the winxp hardware comp page..
