IRQ changing in win2k

Im stumped. How can you change irq´s for pci cards in win2k? it ignores anything I set in the bios, and it wont allow me to change irq´s in the system properties (all the setting are greyed out). Is this because of my mobo? im usiing an intel810E, and i want to use different irq´s for my tnt2m64 pci, and my sbLIVE! value....

You are not meant to need to change the values in 2K/XP. However, if you disable "Use PnP O/S" in the BIOS, it may help.

Another thing... In the bios if you set the Irq to Legacy ISA it prevents windows from automatically assigning that irq. Hence it should be free for you to assign in windows.

okay, the pnp thing didin´t help, and i can find a legacy ISA option, just one that says ENABLE LEGACY SUPPORT. Im really confused here, why is windows automatically assigning them? i should be able to override it withing windows, shouldnt i?

one would think, but, as u may already know, all Windows are mearly resource-sucking viruses that our "friend", Bill Gates, tries to pass off as an OS, so don't count on it...

Gates IS my friend.... Anyways one is not supposed to change the IRQ's of a PCI card thru Windows but rather thru the BIOS. Only ISA cards are meant to be changed thru Windows.

that's right. ussually PCI cards takes one IRQ according to the PCI slot you put then. actually, the slots in your MOBO actually have assigned a IRQ, but sometimes you could change then by the BIOS, but it's almost imposible to mess with these settings the way you want it, coz windows ends always doing what he wants.

What "things" are sharing 6 IRQ's? I'd like to know if possible.

This is my resource layout. NB, I also had no probs when my Audigy was on the same IRQ as my graphics card. It's only changed cos I moved around stuff in my machine, and told the bios to reset ACPI config data
