I don't see the purpose of shaders unless if you plan on adding other manipulation tools, also.

This is just me....but leave the manipulation stuff for Photoshop to handle. There are too many "image viewers" out there that have half-assed tools that only take up space.

I'll have to agree with Kirby here. It's be best if you were to keep it simple, limiting it only to what it should have. Some handy things to have:

A. Make the bar at the top show the filename, the size of the file and current zoom(in percentage)
B. A "Back to original size" button or the like.
C. Rotation functions.
D. "Previous" and "Next" buttons, in case you want to see a folder full of pictures or the like.

Other than those(and some other small things you can think of), I don't think much else would be needed or worth it. Quality over quantity. Keeping it as friendly as possible towards the memory would help the program.

Just my two cents(given Squall, these are two cents he'll quickly discard).

Thank you for your opinion guys

The main goal is to keep the app as simple as possible... the reason why i added shaders effects support is because i wanted to test some stuff myself too and because the @ruanViewer is probably one of the few image viewers out there that doesnŽt use GDI to render the stuff... for that reason there are too many ways i could improve this app or test stuff that could help me to create more fancy stuff for ya. eventhought iŽll keep @ruanViewer simple and easy to use for everyone and also small as possible in size...

Regards
@ruantec

Oh, I know that. But when the talk about shaders surfaced I thought that things would end up getting carried away.

To be honest am quite impressed to see that people determine the addition of Shader effects as "Bloated" to be honest i thought it would be a nice feature as there are a lot of shader effects that can increase the image quality and also add some nice feeling when viewing pics in a Dialshow.. taking in mind everything is done using the GPU power.

Hmm...creating 2 modes in the software, one basic and one advanced would help to satisy both parties. In short, keep all the basic options like those in Windows Pic viewer in the basic view, and everything else in the advanced view. Ability to toggle between modes could be done with a small button on the bottom-left/righ corner of the app.

hey MT i just came after watching your concept picture... the concept is simple yet great looking and thats exactly what i was looking for since the @ruanViewer is made using the new @ES classes the possibilities are almost limitless in many areas when it comes to eye candy

new two drawings. feel free to mix them altogether and so joel.

for me, what every vista/7 user is looking after is the first UI on this new drawing. mainly because it is XP-like, the bottom toolbar with the zoom icons and such.

The second one is more like the actual viewer, but less bloated. Notice the fav icon, you could make some library for it too. (correct me if I am wrong, but for the live previews idea, which is the neatest in my opinion, you would need a library to cache the pic previews)

let's go!

the opacity can be adjusted, but rather then white, it should be based on the Aero colour used.
