I think it's that way for all WUs. I always hope and pray that my CPU SMP client will pick up a 1760 point WU when it finishes a unit as it always produces more PPDs than the 1920 one. It's the same with GPU WUs. I've found that the 353 point WUs always produce the most PPDs (and the 1888 point WUs the least). Consequently, I've discovered that using the -advmethods usually nets me the 353 ones (while not using it often gets me the 1888 ones) so I use the switch for both my GPU clients. If they're both doing a 353 WU they produce a combined 12,400 PPD - add a 1760 CPU WU and that's some 15,000 PPD . The story is the same with my ATI GPU client, the lower-point WUs always seem to get higher PPDs than the higher-point ones.

There was a big stink about that over on the F@H boards saying that Pande group needs to up the points awarded on the higher point value WUs or decrease the points awarded on the lower point value WUs. The difference in processing speed vs. points awarded between the various WUs is heavily skewed and (I think) needs to be adjusted to better compensate for the processing time donated by the user. I guess the only saving grace is that the WUs are sent randomly.

I've tried both.

Atm FahMon has 4 clients it's monitoring.
1 GPU client where I just dragged and dropped the exe.
1 CPU client where I just dragged and dropped the exe.
1 GPU client where I pointed to the folder.
1 CPU client where I pointed to the folder.

All of them are black and N/A.

Dunno if this matters, but I read something about FahMon needing some logging file to function.
In my F@H (GPU) folder I only got the exe, the viewer and a .txt named "LICENSE".
That applies to the CPU client as well. But there are a few extra stuff there, like "AMD-LICENSE", "data_nv" and "data_ati".

That's odd, it definitely should have a work folder in it if it's actually doing anything. I'm using the console clients, but I think the GUI ones have similar stuff in them (been a LONG time since I used them though...).

Cid: Try this if you're trying to use the SMP client. If the GPU client's having issues too, try running it as an admin. I don't think I had any issues getting the GPU client to work though.

masta.g.86: I'll keep that in mind, I was hoping having HT turned on would help negate the excessive CPU usage of the GPU client, maybe not.

Oh man, I'm feeling really dumb at the moment.

Running F@H as an administrator worked, FahMon is recognizing the GPU client now (And it works... after having some issue with a cuda dll..).

It shows I have a PPD of ~7400. (Will have it running for a while to get a better average)
The simplest solution is often the best

Ugh, I'm kicking myself for not adding the ATi environment variables earlier. It lowered CPU usage to 0% when running just the GPU client, and both clients gained roughly 115 PPD.

9k ppd = Win?

Oh, and my previous post was nr 666 in this thread.
Even though 666 isn't the number of the beast, I just felt like mentioning it

Congrats on reaching the magical number Ahielia, you shall now be consumed by the beast

I'm back in action guys, trying to aim for a slightly higher clockspeed now, I have a feeling my PC is quite a bit more stable than last time so hoping for the best

Overclocked my i7 920 to 4GHz now, with the new cooler.

With a steady supply of cold air through my window, it's been at 35 degrees celcius while folding FahMon says it nets me 800 PPD.

in speedfan you need to add a +15 offset to the individual cores to get the real temps.

Also, Core 1 3 5 and 7 are duplicates of 0 2 4 6.

Coretemp, realtemp and Everest give the proper temps, (but everest has some issues with core 2 and 4 being dupes of cores 1 and 2 with some mainboards

btw, what voltage are you running, i couldn't get it stable at 4Ghz at lower then 1.3v, and i needed 1.33 to get it prime stable.

ah....

The Core i7 920 has a 4.8GT/s QPI and a slower northbridge/Uncore frequency than the Core i7 965, which gives it plenty of overhead to dive into. The Core i7 920 CPU is multiplier locked (only the Extreme Edition 965s are unlocked), so we'll have to increase the QPI frequency to get more MHz.
Baseclock = / = QPI.

QPI is dependant on baseclock, but it isn't the baseclock. overclocking Bclock also overclocks QPI (mines at 7.2Ghz (3.6*2)

What cooler did you get, for it to fold at sub 50c is pretty damn good.

the QPL voltage should be fine at auto, or 1.82, a bump to 1.96 is not necessary on i7.

Intel has stopped multiplier dropping its CPUs like it does with Penryn,
Thats incorrect, Speedstep still adjusts the multiplier. i have my bclock at 200mhz, and my multiplier at 17 for a clock rate of 3.4Ghz,

my multiplier drops to 12 to decrease to 2.4ghz.
(i disabled Enhanced C1E as it caused frequency variation squeal.... seems im sensitive to inductor vibrations)

Newegg.com - ZALMAN CNPS9900LED 120mm 2 Ball CPU Cooler - CPU Fans & Heatsinks

But I do have my window open whenever I fold, and since it's getting quite cold outside, the chilly air helps a bit on keeping everything cool.
Gonna see if I can be arsed rearranging the furniture to have my case just below that window.

On the other hand I noticed that the air coming from my exhaust isn't as warm as when playing games. I think it's because of the underclocked RAM.

Other F@H members said to use it on a brand new WU, but I processed a WIP WU just fine; no EUEs, no crashes.
