That's nearly the same get up as me

I'm not folding atm, but I'll start back up once the cooler weather sets in.

The SMP client for the CPU. Setting it up properly can be a bit of a hassle, and it lacks a nice GUI client, but it's the way to go if you want to maximize your performance.

GPU, the GPU client Just a simple set up and away you go.

the smp client sucks, just configure the tray client with the -advmethods and enable the allow receipt of work assignments over 10mb

As you can see, I was getting about 2k points a day with the SMP CPU client. When I tried the tray client before I decided to tackle the SMP configuration, I was only getting about 500points a day.

Maybe I was just getting the small point stuff, even with -advmethods enabled. All I know is that it took a full 24hours to complete my SMP projects.

Definitely. My laptop's been crunching away at 1760 and 1920 point WUs. The 1760 point WUs complete in about 32 hours. The 1920 point WUs complete in about 46 hours. There's really no point in using the standard single-core client if you have a dual core or better.

My Phenom II system burns through a 1920 point WU in just over 12 hours. I wish I could run the SMP and GPU clients simultaneously, but ATI's CAL (Stream) requires a lot of CPU time whereas nVidia, AFAIK, uses very little CPU time with CUDA. As such, I run only the ATI GPU2 client since it allows more PPD (~2750) vs. CPU (~2600) vs. both simultaneously (~2400).

Well, I have yet to come across a problem with the SMP client I've had the GPU client bug out on me...but that's probably because I was overclocking my shaders too high.

I've never had a problem with SMP either. In fact, most of my first 100,000 points were done on my laptop with the SMP client.

The GPU client gives me problems if I clock my card too high. I can max the core/RAM (700/1200) in CCC and I get no visual anomalies in games and such, but FAH usually stops folding and complains about me having an unstable system. Using the auto-OC tool in CCC, it sets my core and RAM to 690/1050 and it folds without error at those settings.

FAH is just really particular about its calculations, especially since it's for medical research. Just because we may not notice any visual anomalies in games doesn't mean that there are no math errors going on.

Once I get my new computer parts (i7 920, 6gb ddr3, gtx 275), I'll start folding again.
I haven't really been bothered with it when I still got this crappy comp.

I don't recall having any issues with the SMP client, it's been running fine for a while. The GPU client gets a little spastic sometimes though. On my system with HT enabled, running both the SMP and GPU clients at the same time generates 60-70% CPU usage.

As for overclocked video cards on the GPU client, that's why my card's at 790/1000. Any higher and it's prone to error out. I think it'll game fine up to 810/1050 or so, but F@H fails quickly at those speeds.

Better late than never, I suppose. I'm installing folding@home on my servers. My tiny 60W HP e-pc server (for my mIRC bot) is now doing folding@home for the NGEmu team 24/7 under the alias Callum_Babydull. I will install 4 simultaneous clients on my main server within the week (my schedule permits me to do it now).

Due to the Linux SMP clients only working on 64-bit operating systems (my server is only 32-bit), I have to run 4 simultaneous standard clients on each core.

Stupid question.
Does folding continue if the computer is put to sleep?

Hmm, I clocked mine down to 720/500 to keep things stable, F@H was quite troublesome and it can still be if I forget to turn it off. I've had quite a few driver problems over the time. Also, I had to turn the cooling a bit higher to prevent those nasty NAN errors.
