I'm also in this folding thing now because I wanted to know how much heat my pc could produce under heavy work (only the cpu cause my 6800gt is too old for cuda :P).

Say if I would wanted to join the team of ngemu, would i have to fold those Alzheimer, Creutzfeldt Jakob, etc. medical data or could I also join with the currently running "Seti@Home" project?

If not, would it be possible to run two different projects at the same time?

I don't know much about that SETI-Client, but assuming you're using that Phenom-II from your sig, you've got plenty of cores to do both of it.

You could dedicate one core for that SETI-thingy, two cores for two instances of Folding@Home and one for the rest.

At least the FAH-client is intelligent enough to free up ressources from it's two used cores (when running two instances) when needed. (e.g. gaming/video-converting/using ZIP/etc.)

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but we broke into the top 900 a few days ago. It seems that I'm the only one in the top 10 who is currently folding. Even D.D. has stopped.

At one point we were at 895. Now we're back in 897. We're falling back in place!

Oh, and for ATI users:

DO NOT MANUALLY OC YOUR VIDEO CARD!

Instead, go into CCC, unlock the OC page and click "Auto Tune".

auto tune.jpg

This will give you a 100% stable video card OC. If you continue to get "system unstable" errors, you may need to lower your CPU OC as well.

Indeed.

Put Squall's PC to work. Stuff it in a window like it's a window box AC unit and run an extension cord to your neighbor's house.

Actually, I see a problem of window box PCs being a major contributor to global warming.

Ah, I see... I see...

I think I'll start up my car and let it run for a few hours just for that reason alone. Perhaps I'll stuff my PC in the window and let it raise the sea levels a tad as well.

So... that thing is basically some thing that makes you use the Graphic advantage of another computer over the internet?

Er, no. Not exactly.

Folding@Home (FAH) is a large-scale, multiple system program that computes nucleotides at the molecular level to examine the process known as protein "folding". The computations can be performed on a CPU or a compatible GPU.

I'm considering joining up (I'm with an old team, started in 2003 I think, from old NGEmu members). I've been the only contributor for the last four years so it's probably time for me to move on . I haven't gotten all of my folding machines running again since moving, but once I do I'll have the following machines running (all Windows clients):

PC in signature: SMP and GPU2 console clients.
Athlon XP 2500+ @ 2.3 GHz: Single CPU console client.
P3-S 1.4 GHz: Single CPU console client.
Dell laptop (C2D T7600): Two CPU console clients.
Eee PC 901 (Atom N270 @ 1.68 GHz): Single CPU console client.
PS3

I'm also thinking about putting a pair of CPU console clients on my work PC as well (Athlon 64 X2 5050e).

I moved over everything except for the P3 and laptops today (put it on the work PC too). I'll get the other machines running and switched over tomorrow.

Alright, I set the team number, I've got an Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @3.0GHz, and a nVidia GeForce 8800GT (G92) idling. What's better for folding? The video card? How do I set the client to use it? High-performance client, I chose.
