Question Do Win9x drivers for display/audio devices work in WindowsXP?

My friend has a Savage4 video card and is planning to install WinXP on her comp but we can't find WinXP drivers for the S4. Will the Win9x drivers for the card work in WinXP?

Windows 2000 drivers usually work.

well.... it will be a sad thing to say but NO!

winXP has some kind of win98/win2000 hybrid kernel, so it will be more likely to support win2000 drivers (more stable) rather than win98.... sorry man! you gotta stick to win98 stuff!

Absolutely not. Windows XP is based on the NT kernel, and NT drivers are as different from Windows 9x drivers as Linux drivers. Windows NT 4/5 drivers will probably work but there's no guarantee.

XP'll probably have basic driver support for her card (XP comes with basic drivers for almost every videocard upon its release) which should allow 2D acceleration, but for 3D acceleration she'll need to find specific drivers.
