Question Windows XP - out of topic?

Uh, this may seem like a dumb question but anyway... I'll just ask since I'm curious. The q is: WinXP = Dual Boot? I didn't know that. If so, how do you set it? Any sites I can go to check it out (any info i mean...)?

Install older OS first before XP. it's as simple as that... oh and you'll have to create a separate partition for each OS.

I would suggest a 100gig hd first at least and make sure it is raid at least, along with deul P4 Xeons and 8gig of ram (RDRAM) and a G3 ti 500.
The costs would be pretty cheap.

Why do I need a very strong computer? Isn't my specs enough already...?
FYI, I have a

PIII 733MHz
128 MB RAM
TNT2 Vanta 32 MB

man... this sounds pretty embarrassing for me to tell this kinda specs... damnit. I'll stop here.. no more.
So basically just put it into two different partitioned drives? that's all? no settings?

Your system should be able to handle it. You need a lot of disk space though (4 GB minimum) for a dual-boot with Windows XP. You don't necessarily have to have them on different partitions (XP can read FAT32 as well) and I actually recommend putting both OSes on the same partition, that way you can share programs instead of duplicating them on two partitions (saves a LOT of space).

No it's supposed to be serious.
Please stop flaming I bet you don't want the mods to lock this thread and give out warnings.
If you have seen the benchies of that type of system you would want 1 too.

It seems you are calling yourself an uneducated lamebrain instead of me, why?

If you read my statements carefully (as an educated person would), you'll notice that never did i refer to myself nor anybody else as an uneducated lamebrain. But since your brain seems to lack the capacity nor the ability to realize such a simple fact. Then you must really be one... an uneducated lamer, that is.

My advise, start learning how to read AND start to understand whatever it is you are reading.

Have a nice day.

I don't think he was flaming, he was just pointing out how crazy the specs you posted were. You absolutely do NOT need that kind of system to run a duel-boot. All you need is a decent amount of hard disk space. It's not like he's running a server or anything. You're only running one OS at a time so it shouldn't require anything more than what the individual OSes require. As far as I can tell his system should be able to handle it. I run a duel-boot with Windows XP and Windows 98 SE and everything runs perfectly on my mediocre system.

Well, if I had that kinda money I wouldn't be here right now....I'd be in Japan, going to Akihabara, buying games and consoles every day for the rest of my life, and going to the Tokyo Game Show every year.

I've got a 2gig HD and no dual boot for me. XPpro runs everything I have just fine. I personally like the new look. Good change from the old win95 look.

How does it run on yours? My sister's computer has a similar setup to yours (Celeron 366 @ 416, 192 MB RAM, TNT2) and it has significant lag times. I had to turn off all the animations cause it was running too slow.

They do? Man I though losing $15000-$20000 is little if you have over a billion $ and good intrest rates. Hmmm I don't see much of a loss do you Phuzzi? especially how much intrest builds up.

I do that btw. If you invest $2M in my bank I owuld give u half price on all pc's. :eyes:

Phuzzi: I think he was just saying if you have lots of money the cost for such a system would be insignificant compared to the whole of your budget. I don't know why he's saying it's "cheap" though. Either way you look at it it's pretty pricy and totally unnecessary (for a dual-boot, which was the original topic).
