No more in-built programs for email, photo and movie editing for Vienna. You get windows live suite or you GTFO. Errr.... is it really a bad news?

Ouch. They shouldn't release an OS without a mail client. I'm well aware there's free ones out there but joe blow doesn't.

n00bs will just have to learn to catch on a bit!

Edit: They can include the extra software within the installation CD or have an option for it during Windows installation itself.

Or for people who don't need any more functionality. I deal with plenty of businesses who's employees use plain vanilla Outlook Express. It's not that they aren't aware of better email clients, it's that they don't need them. It's a mistake to leave Outlook Express (or Windows Mail) out of Windows 7. I guarantee Apple will capitalize on it. "OSX comes with mail software!"

Hum...Windows live suite does not take more than 2.0mb. And I read it comes with more features than the in-built program installed on the O.S.

I think they just decided to seperate it from the O.S letting the client decide wether or not he needeed to use them. There are also some (a lot of?) people who are not using theses programs. It's not a so big lost IMO.

I personally hate the fact that whenever I click on "send email" I'm put up with an Outlook Express screen. It's of no use to me since I use the free Hotmail package. And Windows Movie Maker is damn unstable. You can't put together some videos and render it without the whole thing freezing. Like I said before, there should be an option in installation so that the user can choose whether or not he/she wants to install a certain built-in application, and since half the n00bs using PCs get someone to install a simple OS for them (frustrates the heck out of me to hear this!), MS won't need to worry about people missing out on these apps accidentally.

I've never had any such issue with movie maker. It's a bare-minimum program to be sure, but I've never had a freezing problem with it. The problem is with your computer I think.

I think some people here are being a little too geeky and elitist and not seeing the big picture. To folks such as us, it's not a big deal to lose these programs. To the average schmuck, it's going to be a very big deal and just one more reason to ***** about windows.

Then the average schmuck will call qualified people to deal with the problem and make the economy turn. This is besides why he is an average shmuck.

Speaking as one of the qualified people that has to take calls from these people, I get enough calls already without being swamped with lack-of-email-client calls from a new windows rollout.
