The same thing on a desktop takes 30 seconds to boot. No excuse there. And it's not because the Eee has an SSD either because my desktop HDD reads and writes many times faster than the Eee's SSD.

A full install of XP takes 35 seconds to boot on Eee whereas it takes about 50 seconds to boot on the desktop.

since the theme looks exactly like Vista, it makes me think this is just a tweaked version of Vista, which would be epic fail again.

Vista is too much fail to *tweak*, they need to start from scratch and build a slick-optimized OS with a decent GUI.
its pretty sad that a company with that much money can't do such a task...

It is a tweaked version of vista... just like the first Longhorn builds were tweaks of XP...

Yeah it is. But I don't want to argue with anyone or create a XP vs. Vista Wars again. IMHO it's a better OS than XP and you just have to learn to work with. A short view on a friends house etc. isn't enough to build a opinion on it.

I like Vista it look, feel, and it's faster than XP and its has fewer BSODs. I won't go back to XP ever again. Today's hardwares (cpu and gpu) are more than enough to handle Vista.

People with a 10 years old pc expect theirs pc to run windows vista smoothly need to be realistic

I've been running Vista Ultimate 64bit for awhile. I appreciate the extra features and I've had absolutely zero problems.

I heard they wont include MinWin on Seven, as it is still under development.

Plus I doubt they'd rewrite the whole thing just in a few months and put it to work under Vista's GUI. I'll be saying the same thing for the third time: they are most likely using a Tweaked version of Vista, like they did with firsts Longhorn builds (that were completely XP based).

Also: Win "7"'s Aero theme runs in Vista flawlessly. What proves that there's nothing too much of changed from Vista...

Minwin is kinda the whole point of 7. You can get Vista with a minwin kernel now if you really wanted to....though, good look finding support and don't expect it to work very well.

Rumor has it that MinWin boots up in 20 seconds without a GUI...

it could be Vista in disguise, I watched some ad in tv from microsoft about mojave experiment, The Mojave Experiment they showed people that hates vista, a new promised OS from microsoft it's called Mojave, well, people didn't realise it was VISTA after all..

bottom line, I couldn't careless about themes or skins improvements, as long as core optimizations prooves effeciency and productivity with TRUE compatibility with previous versions of windows, is all what I want..

but hey, they seem like they are using Media Player lite, like MPlayer2 in the old times which was faster than mplayer 7

Why? Because his opinion is different than yours?

Windows 7 was in development long before the Mojave experiment.

I don't think they're out for another facelift this time around.

Now now people! Lets not start the argument which I started a couple of months ago, I bet all of you remember that, especially Spyhop We should have a poll for this you know, just to lay this matter to rest within the confines of Ngemu.

Exactly what happened to the DX9 cards.

Also, the development hasn't even reached beta yet I believe, there's a lot more changes to come to Windows 7 than what you see here...

FINALLY SOMEONE SANE!

Damn, it's ****ing M3 yet, too early to take any conclusions, specially when the thing is still Vista based/alpha. DAMN.

Example: this was Vista during XP based development/alpha:

http://www.intelliadmin.com/images/L...d%203683_a.jpg
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_Wr97ffey4TQ/Rg...nghorn3683.JPG

Just like "7" is to Vista now. Then it got totally rewritten. Boo.
