Mac style taskbar does look good, though I'd prefer the hexagonical figures to be slightly smaller

If you want a "small UI," try the Origami project.

P.S.: And Bubbafat was kinda right. A supposed leak of the PDC 2008 demo discs has appeared on the internet. Both x86 and x64 builds. So far, responses all around the world: it's Vista! Fakkkeeee!!!

mmmm surprise, suprise.... iīll need a bit to research and find out what theyīve done but it seems like thereīs a notaciable change in GDI+. my main app(@ES) is beeing written using GDI+ and for my suprice i noticed a big improvement in speeds at every single area.

it seems like theyīve added some kind of hardware-acceleration??? itīs just an speculation for now as i have to go deeper in that area in order to find out whatever they finally added hardware-support to GDI+ or not but the fact is that is at least 50% faster than vistaīs one.

I wouldn't be surprise if it's faster than Vista, most happy Vista users expected this to happen because Windows 7 for most part only look like Vista but deep down or internally is different.

From what i read Windows 7 have better security, support dx10.1 for desktop environments, multi-cores optimized, and etc.

yeah, but the things is that GDI+ doesnīt seems to be optimized but it seems to me more like hardware-acceleration behind too(not 100% sure)... which is damn great as all of my apps(specially my primary one) use GDI+.

in fact i developed the "GDI+ Layer System" about 3 years ago(something that itīs being used in some Microsoft tools now too LOL) in order to speed up GDI+ and create fast apps with it. but now that i see those speeds all you can see in my face is a big-fat smile and my head blowing of ideas again LOL.

anyways am very excited about it because i thought it will be super-over-bloated and probably more than vista but i was wrong... theyīve done a damn great job sofar and i like it

Wow... it does indeed feel a tiny bit faster. The interface is seemless.

On the other hand, it already HD4800 series drivers built-in. Drivers version 8.501. Updating to 8.553 now and will test some stuffs out...

Edit: NO OpenGL drivers. Oh my goard. (that's like 45% of all of the stuffs that I want to test!)
Nah scratch that, make it 75%. So far:
IdeaS runs but slow as heck.
No$gba runs but also slow as heck, and zooming plugins don't work at all.
Dolphin is obviously ruled out.

Edit: Seems to affect Windows 7 64-bit only. I'll try installing the 32-bit version and see...

mmm thatīs strange.. it must be probably because of your GPU because i tested few emulators under @ES including Dolphin, Project64 and No$gba and i even got 2-6 fps more with Dolphin. oh and btw am using a Geforce 8800GTS OC2 so no ATI-GPU here

last but not least the new loading screen itīs very neat

I'm going to install the 32-bit version now.

And the 64-bit version has a few more perks: DXDIAG in 64-bit would literally freeze the system up for a few minutes; Internet Explorer 64-bit is so buggy that Flash Player doesn't work, scrolling lags, screen flickers, and sometimes websites don't display at all despite having been loaded completely... etc...

It's ATi... not nVidia. I guess I'm stuck with 32-bit until they do something about the drivers. Oh and handwriting recognition is very nice. (better than Vista imo)
