Rapidshare problem

ok I have been trying to download some files via Rapidshare but the problem is that I keep getting a error message saying that my IP is already downloading other files. but the fact is I am not downloading anything. does anyone have any idea as to why it is doing this?

That's because you're probably using the free package right? It only allows for 1 download at a time to happen, and chances are, you're probably sharing your IP address in some way (yes this is possible, I've read it on numerous places) with another machine which is also downloading files at the moment. Either way, Rapidshare sux, the free package has way too many limitations and I haven't been able to download their files even once due to the "The requested file does not exist" error. Long live uTorrent!

Lol yeah that's a common thing.

Lately rapidshare is actually being friendlier to me though..I used to get that problem 99% of the time, these days however I get it maybe 50% of time, they even have a certain hour where they don't put any limits on free downloading...no clue when it is though.

If you have a dsl modem then you can just turn it off for a second or two and restart it again. this will fix your problem.
Also there is a software called "universal share downloader" which can download all the rapidshare links you want, without the hassle of waiting for the download ticket and restarting the modem after each download.
And yes this is faster than Utorrent(only if your max download speed is 500kbps) and you will not have to configure anything (like port forwarding and stuff)

is there any way of stopping this sharing IP adresses? ive also noticed that my IP address is completly different to the one the site is giving me:
Quote:
Your IP address 62.24.251.240 is already downloading a file. Please wait until the download is completed.
my IP address is completly different!

I've been a little disappointed with rapidshare lately. At peak time its much more difficult to max out my download speed. It only used to take 3-4 connections, now it takes 8 or more.

Head over to:
Download Instructions for RAPIDSHARE

But seriously ozzgx4, if you're downloading a file freely, it'll probably be less then 100MB, right? Well then why not use torrents, it might be slower but at least its a sure winner.

Now really that's a stupid question gamefreak...how many sites you know which use rapidshare downloads also give you the option of downloading via a torrent?

On torrents one can find the latest of anything, but on rapidshare you can find old and unique stuff which may not be available anywhere.
And sometimes, the case can be that one might not be able to use torrents and be left with the choice of only direct downloads. This is where rapidshare makes sense.

Indeed. I know I prefer to download a complete file from a database as opposed to a file with one seed.

he is probably talking about rapidshare.com not de. rapidshare.com now doesn't have verification screen or waiting time between downloads

On topic. You might be using a proxy, and someone on the same proxy server is downloading at the moment

if you are using a modem then you can try to reset it. or you will have to change your port at the router itself.
Best option get an independent connection.

lol yeah right.
torrents take weeks to download anything big.

FF3 + Rapidshare Downloader Addon = Awesome!

i downloaded a 4gb file in 24 hours, whereas it would have taken me 2 weeks by torrents.

heres the link to the addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8376

just copy all the rapidshare download links to the addon, and it downloads them all automatically.
you don't have to manually visit the site, and wait 50 seconds, then click the link for every file.

the download speed for rapidshare is way faster than torrents.
