FF3 + Rapidshare Downloader Addon = Awesome!

i downloaded a 4gb file in 24 hours, whereas it would have taken me 2 weeks by torrents.

heres the link to the addon:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8376

just copy all the rapidshare download links to the addon, and it downloads them all automatically.
you don't have to manually visit the site, and wait 50 seconds, then click the link for every file.

the download speed for rapidshare is way faster than torrents.
Rapidshare costs like 120 Euros a year. If you know how to judge a torrent by its looks, then you'll have no problems in downloading at around half of your max speed. I don't even bother trying a torrent if it has any less then 10 seeds. If its a large torrent (500MB+) then I only bother to try 50+ seeds.

Oh did I mention Rapidshare costs 120 Euros a year, while torrents 0 Euros for a lifetime

rapidshare is free...
you just have to wait 50 seconds before the download.

using an automatic downloader takes care of all those problems.

I don't agree. I get more dl speed on torrents than rapidshare (maybe because of the connection speed, but more dl speed nonetheless :P).
The advantage I find in Rapidshare is that, it just not depends on seeders and peers.

Usenet > Torrents > Rapidshare.

If you know where to look in alt.bin*, torrents are replaced.

These alternate networks arent mainstream enough for Random Joes (even with the index database sites)

Rapidshare actually seemed to have improved, but torrents still beat that. As long as enough seeds/peers are there, why object?

My point exactly! Oh yeah and there's this hype about UseNext everywhere. Has anyone here tried it? Personally, I think its a big scandal. I downloaded the trial and searched for a file but as soon as I clicked the search button, an error popped up saying "You have already registered for the free version, would you like to upgrade" If I clicked No, the Windows would shut I tried using the "Free Zone" but that yielded the same error.

Well im using a program called rapidshare manager, which is quite good but you need to have a premium account to use it. it's pretty good and you don't have to wait to a number of seconds. only drawback is that you need a premium account which sucks

Another thing which I don't like about Rapidshare is that a free user can't search for any files on the server, at least, not that I've heard of any ways. Does anyone have a work around for this?

Hmm... advice: try using 4shared.com or other services and see if you can find the same file. Often time, I'd only turn to Rapidshare because it's some silly DLL or a complete package of DLLs that I'm missing somewhere in the system...

Otherwise, I don't see why I have to download gigabytes of stuffs from rapidshare, or a torrent network... or usenet... or whatever.

Lest it's a Linux iso... then it's a different story. ;p In which case, I prefer private torrent networks more than the general public ones. At least in the private networks, those files always have seeds, and if you are lucky, you have more seeds than you can possibly connect to. For instance, I got Fedora Core for the PS3 (4.3GB ISO) in 4 hours from a private network.

it downloads 1 file at a time, so you don't break the rapidshare rules.
it just does it all automatically, so when its a 35part file, you don't have to manually click 35 links and wait 50 seconds for each one.
you can just copy all the links to the program, and then download over night.
since the average speed i get is over 100kb/sec, its much faster than torrents.

Rapidshare:
slowest speed: ~60kb/sec
average speed: ~125kb/sec
max speed: ~230kb/sec

Torrents:
slowest speed: ~0kb/sec (no peers, happens alot)
average speed: ~20kb/sec
max speed: ~350kb/sec (max on my gay connection)

torrents have the potential to be faster, but theres never enough seeders.
using rapidshare with an automatic downloader is awesome.
i just started doing it a few days ago, and i'm able to get alot of stuff that would have taken me weeks to get by torrents.

with torrents, i find it hard to get over 60kb/sec speed.
thats the slowest rapidshare goes for me.

because theres never enough seeders for those rare-files.
direct download is so much better than torrents because you get a more constant download speed.

i rather always download something at 100kb/sec, then download 90% of files at 15kb/sec and 10% at 350kb/sec... which is the case with torrents.

oh i forgot to mention:
by not using torrents, you don't have to seed. And therefore you don't use up your upload bandwidth.
whenever i seed something over 7kb/sec, my internet runs slow as hell.

Rapidslut downloads at 160-320kb/s for me with 220 average

rapidshare was fine for me but they started to suck since they put the 50GB limit which i reached in less then 7 hours(wanted to test my connection speed)..

my averange speed was between 1,8MB/s to 2,2MB and one day for some strange reason i even reached 6,2MB.
now they are even worst with there new limit of 4GB which i reach in less then 30 minutes.

Torrents are far better if you have enough seeders.

If all you need are dll files, then you should get them from DLL-files.com - Download all your missing dll-files.
I hope this site is legal because I'm not sure.

Oh and who was saying torrents are piracy HQs. Rapidshare isn't any better.

that trick doesnīt work anymore as they are even more stupid now and put a speed limit to the free download. rapidshare will die sooner than later because people are going away from them because of there new methods.

anyways people use there network for piracy which is bad actually.. but in other hands thatīs the only reason why they are still alive
