I hate 3DMark06!

I went around the Internet looking for a good benchmarking software, I found 3DMark06 to be the worldwide standard for benchmarking so I said, "Why not give it a shot?" So I downloaded it an installed it. Then I double-clicked the icon and the loading screen appears, everythings normal till now, but then the monitor screen went completely blank, pitch dark, I counld see my reflection on it and it was inactive. After an agonizing minute or so, the monitor screen became active again but the screen which popped up was exactly like the one which your TV shows you if the cable leading to it gets unplugged: a black screen with moving white dots and lines. What gives! Its not like my PC cant run it.
Intel dual-core E2160 @ 1.8 GHz (stock), 1 GB DDR2 RAM 667 MHz, ATI HD 2400 Pro (512 MB).

Is it possible that the setup file was corrupt or something, has anyone else seen this sort of problem.

Synthetic game benchmarks are epic fail.
Only real benchmarks you should be using for gaming is real games.

i guess so, I just thought it would be better to have some sort of a statistic in hand, its difficult to tell someone how well your PC runs games by speech but i think personal satisfaction means a lot more then any stupid score. But still, anyone got any possible causes and/or solutions

The future mark web site states your processor should be clocked 2.5Ghz or higher, though I doubt that is the problem. (Well then again, it is a Pentium processor...)

Also it looks more like a driver issue, than a program issue. Upgrade your drivers.

But as spyhop said real benchmarks are better.

More information is needed. Did you run it and get the screen? Or did it just die when you just barely try to start it up?

If it dies when you try to run it... then... try upgrading your drivers/downgrading your drivers, etc...
Check your temp, like everyone is saying. Check... your... temp.

If it dies when you are loading it, maybe a full re-install of Windows would help.

old computers Geforce 4200Ti 128mb died trying to run 3dmark06 at 1600x1200.

It simply died try to work so hard rendering at that setting. Its alot like an old person. Push them too hard when they are weak and frail and they will go *kaput*.

Computer parts don't work that way.
Any quality component should be able to maintain 100% workload.

thats what happened, at first it seemes normal, the small screen saying "3DMArk06 is configuring your hardware, this may take upto a minute during which your system may not respond" but then, after 10-20 seconds, it happened.

A similar thing happened to me when I tried to run ATITools 0.26 but now that I have installed 0.27 beta 4, everything has been fine and dandy.

GPU-Z is showing the temperature to be 14-17C while surfing, now that just cant be right, my room temperature is 31C! Whilst running ATITools, the temperature shows at around 23-30C, thats not very hot for any piece of hardware is it?

What I think of a possible cause is that because my actual dowload speed is at 35 KBps, it took like 4 hours to download the bloody 580 MB setup file! During the download, many times (like maybe 6 or 7 times) the computer suffered an improper shutdown owing to the constant power outages here. Could it be that the setup file got corrupt or something. Either way, I have never seen anything like that blank TV screen on my monitor nor have I ever read about it.
