XP SP2 Problems

I have a problem...

When I try and install XP SP2 onto my comp, when i start it up, it just resarts the comp when at the XP loading screen...

I have no idea why and I am stuck with SP1

help please?

I gots a P4 in it, and a Asus P4800SX i think ???

did you try SP3?

Service Pack 2 needs to be installed before installing Service Pack 3.

@OP: try to repair your Windows installation, you can do that by inserting your Windows CD, restarting your pc and select to boot from CD. Follow the instructions there.

I had sp1 and installed sp3 and it worked perfectly, so I don't know.

Make a new windows disc with all the service packs (up to 3) slipstreamed then do a windows repair with it. Unless your key is pre-SP2, in which case that wont work ;p

You can use nLite - Deployment Tool for the bootable Unattended Windows installation to do what refraction said above. Its pretty easy.

Wait, I fixed it. I just had to update the bios of the ASUS mobo.
I looked up this and it looked like everyone that had my mobo had the same problem...

No it doesn't. download the SP3 full installer.
