Wua.la Problems... and a nice idea!
Hey guys, ever heard about wua.la?
Quote:
I still have some invitations, if someone likes to join, I can invite him. Searching preferable for Vista64 users, because my Internet is always disconnecting after starting wua.la. Could be a port problem, too, because I'm using it on my University ISP and it seems, that I can't use taht port. Is there a way to check which port I could use instead (btw: that was my problem, now to the idea ![]() What do you think, we could create a NGEMU user group and host there all important files, emus etc. Would be a good idea in my opinion! What do you think? It's better than having to check the website everytime and it's free traffic!

I'd prefer to recommend steering away from it as far as you can. This service could cause great harm to people lured into joining.
Also, "converting local storage into online storage" is nothing I've never witnessed even the scummiest of the anti-p2p corps say with a straight face. Also, theyre using people hdd space and bandwidth without providing retribution. That would be the same as having ads served from your computers to the people viewing those ads. Plainly unacceptable. The p2p term was never supposed to just be a 'selling factor' (in the same way anything named after Ubuntu or Firefox is guaranteed instant success). Here, your files are basically just spread across more than one point (this makes it difficult if not impossible to control the flow of these files, regardless of whether these are "encrypted" or not). UlteOS and EyeOS are as good as ASP services get, for the moment being. Stay safe, and help people stay safe Post over. Concerns published. Recommendations stuck. You may now boo me for slinging mud at that site (and all the concepts it dares to suggest as revolutionary improvements everyone would benefit from) Last edited by Hard core Rikki; May 16th, 2008 at 13:29. |

They would be expected to be positive about the thought. I do not believe many if any will look much further than at the featurelist.
The loss of control of your own information is also just too much of a risk, especially since it does not alleviate much the prior concern about "loss of control" of files posted on the internet. |

i agree with HCR on this one.
if you want to share your files, than just upload them to some hosting site like megaupload.

HFS HTTP File Server is as easy as it gets, for short-term file sharing. Setting an oned server would be the safest. Other than that, anything thrown at the internet is outta control anyway, unless encrypted or password-protected

wow, i give up on it already, people can see what files you have if you upload them, thats any form bad, i rather get more hdd space by buying one rather than give out my private files.
