cuz Vista's support for legacy- I/O ports is horrible.

probably the number 1 reason i stoped using it; my PS2-to-PC controller adapter uses the parallel port, and i can't get it to recognize it in vista.

so i can't play games with my gamepad...

and my secondary ps3 controller driver dosn't work on 64bit vista...
No. It is USB...

anyways, XP w/ the taskmanager shows 0%, vista shows 3%.
that means just opening a simple window takes up a big chunk of your CPU performance.
I didn't say I didn't have any programs open .
Got my keyboard showing me my CPU and RAM usage.
And having more than one window open + typing stuff in Firefox makes my CPU go from 0% to 2%, when I stop it idles back down to 0%.

(even with Task Manager I can see it idles to 0%, so maybe it's just you dunno, look at what kind of useless vista software is open, look at what you can disable)

i deleted my Vista partition a long time ago

anyways, it had alot more problems than just that.
i don't think i'm going to install it again unless they come out with SP2 and people say its amazing...

but by then, the new Windows OS would probably be out, and i rather just get that...

The next Windows release isn't expected before 2010 (from Microsoft own words) so, the only way SP2 isn't released before that would be if MS really, really, really, really stop trying with Vista.

And since they fixed various memory problem up to now, it would be pointless to stop trying.

What were those other problems? :o Personally I haven't had any problem right now. I wouldn't have used Vista if I didn't get a free copy since I don't see the price tag as being worth it, but for a free OS, it's doing fine.

I run Vista and I'm fine with it now, but I can perfectly understand people having problems with it as well. I've also had my fair share of "fights" with the OS before I got it into a configuration that I'm fine with. ...and perfect doesn't exist.

Well i can compare vista to macos - you like it for first half hour and then hate it.
Yes i used booth, hate booth, and i always was the fastest one to change OS when new was released(still got ME laying somewhere here). but Vista is just evil - especialy if i look at those at school and game req. "1GB of RAM memory(For windows Vista 2GB)"( i cant remebmer if B is byte or bit...so assume its byte). MacOS looks good but it JUST looks - comandline is good(I prefer bash over Dos) but rest isn't - it cant eaven drop program from memory well(40% of time i have to manualy kill it).
