Meh...I am so glad to be rid of Avast! ... if you are on a tight cap...don't ever use it...it was sucking my connection dry.

Also be aware that the new Google Pack has a Spyware Doctor starter edition in it. Basically the spyware protection part of Spyware Doctor, for free.

For NOD32 version 3.0 , its the windows service eating all the cpu cycles. If terminated, runs smoothly again. Version 2.7 doesnt have this issue, and is equally reliable compared to 3.0

Does anybody use Avira Antivir? I am using it, and I see no problems at all. Works quite fine, it's free, and has a quite nice rating in this comparative:

AV-Comparatives

I use it together with Comodo Firewall, as suggested by this comparison:

Results and comments - matousec.com

I know website comparisons can be quite biased, but so far I had no problems at all. Computer working like a charm, never had any problems, and the software are all free.

I used NOD32 in the past, but version 3 really made me run away from it.

I used to use AntiVir but dropped it due to false positives with no method of adding them to some sort of exception list...so every time I access the file it pops up a warning...which is just plain annoying.

Edit Bah I use PCtools Firewall Plus and in another firewall test it came near the top...and I tried all the other firewalls before it that were free an none of them were any good for my needs, too little customisation...esepcially Online Armour Free bsodding my PC to hell and back.
I actually need to use either this firewall or Online Armour Free (which I despise due to all those BSODs) to get one of my programs to run...it's a strange instance I know.
