XMplay is ok with psf as well (can also read gamecube streams, so all the better - via in_cube). winamp's input plugins are defacto standards, and a significant number of these players support them (at least in a basic form)

Meh... I don't use much more then Windows Media Player, @ES, and Media Player Classic. I usually manage to get the job done with those. For whatever I can't play, I convert. Simple.

fb2k does support these formats. The SPC emulation used in the foo_gep component is the same emulator used in BSNES. I would love to see Winamp have a better component than that.

I myself would prefer to see imrpovements to the PSF decoders/rippers, personally, but that's outside the scope of audio players

So why do you want to switch to winamp. If you must switch I would say foobar2000 but I'm not sure why you would. I have been using winamp for ... like a decade almost. I'm using plugins from 1998 that still work and winamp takes less than 1% of my cpu at all times (well maybe except when using 64th note). If its cause you need something for linux you could always use wine but then your cpu usage will go way up. Or you could try XMMS which was already stated but that's a poor substitute for winamps plugin awesomeness. I just see no reason to switch when there is no better alternative in terms of compatibility.
My friends tell me iTunes plays mp3s well ... lol. PS: If you want I can send you my plugin directory. Should support almost all console formats at top notch quality.

Ah? Uh, that would not be necessary, but thank you for the proposal ;p
I personally was mainly asking for user feedback about their favest ones (instead of relying on my own metrics, as I have an exhaustive enough list of these) PS: Audacious > XMMS ;p |
