More progress from Gekko!

My buddy ShizZy sent me a new screenshot showing the progress that him and his team (Aprentice, Lightnin and Thakis) have made in the last couple of weeks.

 

 

I think we can expect great things from the GC scene in the months to come!

that looks very good... too good. I'm kinda skeptical because of the obvious photoshop done to the title and the fact that the screenshot is only about 640x480 which means it could have easily been pulled from a t.v. capture card. If it is true thats amazing news, but i think more screens that are not photoshoped and at higher res' would be more convincing.

Its photoshoped to hide the framerate because....

1. if its a low frame rate all we will see on the forums is "Th4t SuX0rs" from all the idiots across the web

2. if its a high framerate the "wh3nZ Pcsx2oo's c0m1nz out?" crowd will rush the forums and destroy the entire internet with an ultra high volume of " WHERE CAN I FIND GC ROMZ AND EMU's" spam messages, thus triggering defcon 1, the americans will blame chinese military hackers and initiate a full ICBM counter attack.

It really could get that bad....honest it could

You realize the native output resolution for the gamecube is 640x480... Why would they take a SS at any other resolution? When emulating, you work with and how the original system did. Later on is when you can add your own higher resolutions, plugins, whatever.

They probably blurred out insanely poor FPS. But doesn't matter, this looks good.

Yeah ShizZy asked me to blur out the FPS. You guys can have fun guessing what it was This is definitly not a fake... I wouldn't of posted it if I thought otherwise

to all above. ive no doubt chrono is telling the truth that it is real but you cannot say that if it came from someone less respected it would have been demmed fake.

I have only one question: Is it playable with the frame rate it does provide?

Now all we need is a GBA-PC link cable...

It is obviously slow FPS since this is still new. If the pcsx2 is an indicator it will need a lot of power to run and take a while make it work well. If they are doing better than the pcsx2 with fewer men and less time then the question would be what is the pcsx2 team doing lol. Obviously they are not ahead of the pcsx2 team so give them some time to work on it.
In the end it's just a tease for now if it is real or not, since we can not use it yet and if we did we would not be able to play as the games were meant to be played.

[guessing mode]You sure blurred it a lot but, comparing window titles of the first gekko screenshot (the one with resident evil) and this one, i can tell this has a nuber less for fps, so if the format is still the same (with two decimals) the fps should be something like X.XX , my guess is 2.xx .[/guessing mode]

Seriously, i don't care fps that much now, the important is that ShizZy is doing a very good job go on guy, you rock!

For anyone else with a bit of relations in the scene, to see aprentice in the list of devs would have been enough of a proof...

I agree, I know of aprentices work, back when the GC emulation scene looked dead and gekko popped up with apprentice working on it (in part) I knew great things would happen.


They also did do a better job of rubbing out the fps this time didn't they? Last time we all knew it was, what? 27fps :P


Though that emulator with pete is dead isn't it? GCemu I think, I thought it would succeed real quick with pete under it, but looks like they lost interest which is why they released it.

FYI, GCEmu is the work of Duddie / Tratax team, Pete Bernert did the graphics plugin.
Seeing the names of the authors, Gekko is surely not fake. Good luck with the emu, seems like its progressing nicely.

-Does gekko will allow us to play with GC mini-Dvds?
-Does I will be able to connect my Bongos with it?

It really motivates the dev team to get good feedback. I can assure, this is no fake... and in fact it isn't even new news, the emulator has ran Zelda for a while

Am I setting my expectations too high if I'm expecting to get Mario Kart Double Dash fully playble with multiplayer via online connection? I think oh well, keep up the good work.
