Post CXBX progress

Over in this thread, there are several screenshots from shadow_tj which show an impressive progress going on with the X-Box emulator CXBX. The screenshots show the self running in-game demo from Rayman. Though we're not 100% sure yet if this is a movie or actually the game engine displaying the graphics, the shots are very nice to look at - see for yourself:

Great work caustik and KingofC! For more CXBX screenshots, make sure to check out our CXBX section!

Nice It would be very awesome if that was the actual game engine running rendering the game.

These are from a TV capture card, you can see interlace artifacts, the tv overscan and overall the picture is blurry.

Unless what you mean is that the emulator is playing back an X-box movie file.. But then where is the window title and border?

Why has no one made these comments on the main thread if you are all so sure it is a TV capture card at work? I know nothing about interlace stuff and telling the difference between whats real and what is a tv capture card but the comments on the main thread seem to be that the screen shots are real and that is of an 'xmv' movie running in the game, similar to what CXBX was doing a while back with Turok, again playing an 'xmv'. Only quoting what Caustik has said in the other thread.

I don't think an xmv would be that interlaced.
Here's what I think it is: if you look carefully at the larger rayman picture(s) you can see small horizontal lines in some places; they dont show up everywhere; a program called 'dscaler' was used, which largely 'deinterlaces' (removes those scanlines from) the tv input

for comparison; take a look at the shots in this thread:
http://www.ngemu.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9003
I made those from a DC using dscaler and a tv capture card; if you look carefully you'll notice the same horizontal lines.

I'd wait for Caustik to post, not some random from the boards. I agree, it looks very TV-Card like to me. You (especially Bobbi) should know better than this.

i disagree...

i reckon it's real, it is just 1 game, i mean if there were good shots from several games, then i would probably think..hmmmmmm (they probably just worked hard on 1 game to get somethinhg working properly). it is afterall just a xbox...,gamecube, ps2 are real consoles remember, so you would think
xbox emulation would be progressing more, and since we aint hard from him recently..who knows

Well.. I think any emu author should post screen shots from the emulator running. and if there's an emu that runs the game like thoso shots, it MUST be cabable of changing the resolution to higher resolutions than the XBOX itself..

FAKE shots..
