It varies with every game. Given you have a 8600gt the determining factor 90% of the time if you keep your gsdx internal res at or below 1024x1024 will be your cpu. Look on the screenshot thread to get an idea of the fps your 3.2ghz x2 is capable of.

Make sure you get the latest version of gsdx 0.1.7

I agree with PCXL-Fan here about your graphics card might start limiting you if not using low enough internal res for quite a lot of games so this should be kept it mind.

From an AMD X2 @ 3.2GHz I'd expect perhaps ~100 FPS average in fastest running 3D games and probably some 2/2.5D games would run around the same or slightly faster while around 60 FPS is probably quite common and slowest running games half of that and even slower (mind I also get down to ~30 FPS with my E8400 in a few games). I used to have an optimized AMD Opteron 165 1.8GHz system with fast DDR1 ram and good mobo etc overclocked to 2.8GHz b4, while it's not Socket AM2 like yours they still perform pretty much the same at similiar clock speeds so that's what I'm mainly basing my numbers on. Back then speedhacks weren't avilable of course so these might give you a bit better performance in lots of games but they also lowers compability for some games and it's mainly the "EE/IOP sync hack" which helps speedwise for pretty much any game, while the first one only in some games. So keep that in mind too.
