technically you would be turning your ps3 into a pc with linux you can even run window on a ps3 under linux emulation so why not try
someone might want to try it it's an idea might work better than there pc and they might wanna play imports but not have a ps2 anymore so it's a valid option when you consider the ps3 can run the OS it was made for
memory might be an issue but the processing power would be greater than any pc

no its not possible, pcsx2 is for X86 CPU's only.
and beside, it requires 3D acceleration, PS3 linux has none.

and not to mention that its totally slow, even my old P2 366mhz laptop can run Ubuntu faster.

well linux might not have 3d acceleration on the ps3 but you can run windows under linux on the ps3 so that would remove that problem
processor wise I don't know but if you can run a 32 bit or 64 bit operating system on the ps3 a would think you would be able to run an emulator for that operating system
i know that you can run all the other emulators on it this way

You are suggesting to make the ps3 linux emulate a x86 enviroment (because if you run win, you need a x86 enviroment), then make it emulate windows, then make windows emulate the ps2.....

seriously tho... it can't be done. Even if you run windows it will not magically have 3d accel, if there are no drivers for the ps3 hardware....

The only possible thing would be running in software mode... but that'll be pointless as it would probably run at like 0.000001 fps considering how "optimized" is linux under ps3 by itself....

^most virtualization software doesn't expose the real GPU to the guest OS. The virtual GPU usually doesn't have 3d acceleration anyways. You'd have to get past that before you start worrying about the driver

Wink Ps3

the ps3 only has 256mb of RAM which causes linux to cache data onto the ps3's slow harddrive.

on anther note the gameOS is (kind of) running linux and blocks some accsess to the ps3's hardware

thats why it's slow... i guse sony don't want any risk of damage to the ps3's cell broadband engine or it's custom 256mb gfx card

typing on ps3 is slow (especilly when you don't have a keyboard)

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
do you even know how slow it is when you emulate windows on linux on the PS3? eh?
its slower than a Pentium 1 processor, more like a 486DX with 30mhz or something.
yes, i installed windows 95 on it, it was slow as hell.

and now you want to run pcsx2 on it?! lmao xD
even the plain linux on the PS3 is too slow to run a Power PC optimized PCSX2 version on the PS3 because Sony reduced the CPU performance for Linux.

short and painless: forget it
