Differences between RGB and HDMI?

I am planning to purchase a LCD monitor for gaming usage soon. Before that, I don't really know the differences between those two input. Can RGB support HD resolution? The LCD monitor can support 1920x1200 max.

RGB can not go above 480i, HDMI supports up to 1080P.

If you mean D SUB 15 then you will have no problem...but there is no new graphic card with Dsub output. Most of them have DVI, some have HDMI and the very new ones DispayPort.
Which graphic card do you have?

The component cable you have posted supports 1080p. The first versions of Xbox360 didn't have HDMI so they had to output the HD content through component.

Rgb can go up to any max resolution but the difference in which cables is the signal quality, with length of cables also creates distortion, but the only difference from rgb and hdmi is the signal, rgb is analogue while hdmi is digital, also component cables carry only image not sound, but since your using it only for a monitor and not sound then going with components is a choice.

Then, I shall go for component input for the lcd monitor. HDMI monitor is expensive than component anyway. Thanks for the info~

HDMI = digital signal, RGB/component = analog signal. It's as simple as that.
