Horrible performance

I am having huge lag in games(DBZ 3, and Godzilla Unleashed). the menus sometimes load fast 100+fps, but then drop to 30fps, but when the main menus pop up my frames drop to about 12, and when I load a fight the frames drop to about 3fps, and stay there. I have been changing settings etc for the last 4 hours , and nothing has helped. I read all guides, and not sure whats wrong. I dont this its a OS problem, as I have a dual boot system, currently on xp home edition, my second os is xp pro, the emulator lags equally in both.my pc is a p4 2.8mhz ht 2g ram xforce 7600gt agp card.

There's your problem. It's highly recommended to have a dual-core CPU and at least a 7900 Nvidia or x1900 ATI range cards if you want decent performance. Also, it could be just the games. Even with the best computer money can buy, some games are just lag fests.

All I can recommend is OC'ing the CPU and GPU a bit and that's about it if you're already tinkered with the configurations already.

I am not sure if with you pc can be play decent, you need more cpu and gpu, but it can be depended of the game you play. I cannot think a solutions without core 2 duo or a nvidia series 8.
It is normal that the menus in the game can fly like an "F-22 Raptor" and that upon entry ingame, speed falter at very low levels. And also depends on whether the game is indoor and outdoor. Outdoor can be requiered a more power form the gpu to show the items, and if the game is in a room for example, was needed less powerful graphic to display the items. If I am wrong can be someone corrected me .

I dont care about full speed. I would settle for 15 fps in game, playing at 2-3fps is not doable.

Well unfortunately Pentium 4's are not up to the heavy task of emulating the PS2. Stick your PS2 console or update your rig, not much else you can do. The only games you could really play is Nic games, bust a move and perhaps a few other 2D games, even the fastest games in PCSX2 will stutter along with a P4.

Unfortunatly u seem to misunderstand. 15 FPS is playable... if u've got so in PC game, but in PCSX2 it means than game is running 4 times slower with crappy sound and veeery long videos. For me less than 40 FPS is not playble, sound becomes desynchronized and controls doesnt seem to work properly
Anyway there is nothing u can do... ever. Only update your PC

I tried changing my 7600GT to a X1950XT and i only got a few boost in FPS in FFX , the biggest improvement was upgrading my old Athlon64 3500+ to an Intel 2160 1.8ghz running @ 3.3ghz
