Final Fantasy IX Battle Menu

Hey,
does someone know how to fix the problem with the battle menu in FFIX? It doesn't show up during the fights. I can click blindly and it works for the easy battles during the start but I would appreciate if someone can help me out with this problem.

I tried both versions of ePSXe, the 1.5.2. and the 1.6.0.

Ah, I found the problem:

"The Final Fantasy battle menu is tied into "Off Screen Drawing" in the video configuration menu and it needs to be set to Standard, usually #2. I found this out through trial and error. Hope it helps." (FFIX has no battle menu - The Emulator Zone Forum)
