nullDC 1.0.0 beta 1.6 [07/11/2007 update]

<Update>
7/11/2007
Fixed a couple of bugs, it has a new aica plugin & some other minnor fixes.Read the readme for more info.
I'l edit this post for other updates, as well as do a new post at the end of the thread.
<old link is no longer valid>
use : http://www.emudev.org/nullDC/
</Update>

drkIIRaziel "saw the light" and decided that if we don't make a release now we may never do, so here it is:

<link is no longer valid>

Be aware that this is more like an ALPHA than a BETA (thus the version number) so some things might be broken.

Read the included documentation and follow the instructions there if you encounter any problems.

Have fun

I am getting an error though when trying to launch nullDC, at first it said I needed the wpcap.dll and packet.dll files because it couldn't find them. I went and got those, put them in my sytem32 directory and now a I am getting another error cannot find packet entry point in packet.dll then it says the one of the plugins or all of them could not be loaded.

Anyway to fix this?

Install winpcap drivers, not just copy one or two files but install the driver set.

Whats supposed to be broken in sound support? It plays back fine here, maybe a bit better then the last version (still far from perfect tho). Also joypad works fine, using x360 pad with custom drivers, all my custom mapped buttons are recognized.

my thoughts: no alt+enter fullscreen switch, Ikaruga lvl2 still broken. No Vsync. Framerate is a bit jerky under Vista (stays 60fps, its like if it wouldnt display all 60 frames though), but I use a Radeon so I have no right to complain. Also, no rumble.

Otherwise it probably has anything I need.

I believe it has more to do with that they have been trying to do a release for months but it has been delayed repeatedly.

It's not loading any games for me, weird because it's not crashing or erroring out, just sits at a white screen.

Tried bot Sonic Adventure 2 and Resident Evil: Code Veronica.

Since this is a beta (or alpha), maybe we should not even think about complaining. The team has already done more than what any of the rest of us would have done in their place.

I'm not complaining, only informing that I'm not able to get it to work.

Yes I am already using normal boot, unless I'm doing something else wrong.

JP and US BIOS run at 50FPS PAL and the broadcast and system type are greyed out in the nullDC settings so if a PAL game doesn't have a 50Hz/60Hz selector then I have to play it in PAL which limits the game to 50FPS only.

Sound for me is worse than the previous BETA, its very crackly with either sound plugin. I guess this is what the developers meant by the sound being broken in this release.

Scratch my last post, I managed to get it to work. I don't know what I did wrong.

The only thing I did differently this time was choose HLE boot instead of normal.

Excellent release, Resident Evil: Code Veronica is actually running normally compared to the last release. In this release there is shadows and the lighting is much better.

Also it doesn't run too fast or too slow, just normally as if I were playing it on my Dreamcast.

Sound works ? strange .. im sure i broke it somewhere >.<
Anyway some notes about this release :
-Its an 'as is' release, both psyman & i have less time lately so we decided to release current beta .
-It was meant to be fixed, cleaned up and released by 1/11/2007.Due to bad luck it wasnt even fixed .
-The chanka aica plugin uses new elsemi's aica code instead of chanka's.It has speed limit (on/off with scroll lock iirc) and DSP emulation.
-Netplay should be broken.
-Some menus (like change bios region etc) are not working properly, so they are disabled atm.
-GDI files no longer need the -8 offset hack.You need to fix your files, or they wont work
-DO NOT RUN THE MMU BUILD, unless you use interpreter.when using dynarec IT JUST MAKES THINGS SLOWER WITHOUT ANY IMPROVEMENT ON COMPAT.gah ...Yes, the mmu build will boot wince games and run dreamcast linux & netbsd

I hope i'l fix some of the problems soon so we can have a proper beta 2 release soon

Oh, I should've known the AICA has a dsp, now the (lack of) echos in the Ikaruga music makes sense.

btw, if by sound being broken you meant the Chanka plugin, then yea, its pretty damn broken. Sound effects play more or less, but the music in Ikaruga really doesnt work.

Also, with the Chanka Aica plugin I don't get the jerky framerate. It thinks Ikaruga runs in PAL 50hz mode though.
