Unhappy 50fps running choppy with frameskip??

Hey guys,

I've tested Tekken 4 and VF4 Evolution with the latest build of this emulator (running on Win XP SP2 with Core 2 Duo E6600, 2GB DDR2-667, Radeon X1950 Pro), and with the ZeroGS plugin I get smooth framerates of about 25 - 50 fps in these games. Now, when I do not enable frameskipping, the games run in slowmotion. I guess that is because these games are actually supposed to run at 60fps on the PS2? For example, when the fps is at about 30, the game seems to run at half speed...and when it's at 50/60 fps, it's full speed.
Ok, but now when I enable frameskipping, the game runs totally choppy?? Wtf...I don't get that? Without frameskipping, the game is running absolutley smooth...and 30fps at average should be far enough for the frameskipper to allow smooth AND fast gameplay at correct speed? Also, the title bar says 40 - 55 fps (Tekken 4)...so how can that become so choppy? I tried both frameskipper methods (normal frameskip and VU skip) but it happens with both (although VU skip is slightly better).
So what might be the reason for this? Any ideas? Cpu and ZeroGS are definitely configured correctly .

Its running choppy because its doing just what the name says its doing, its skipping frames. You will be running the game at the speed of 50fps but only say 30 of those frames are being displayed, thus you get a choppy experience. VU skipping works smoother, and faster.

However overall its better to just run these games without any type of skipping on. Are you using the 256color trick, might be worth giving it a shot to see if you increase your speed anymore / try overclocking your CPU a little.

I tried playing a game with V-skip and Even more Skip when my games were running at 40-45 fps and both were choppy and worse with the skipping, running games with the low speed is often better, even if it screws up the sound quite often.

The 256 trick never works for me tho... When I start PCSX2.exe with the 256 trick, it start the software and my whole desktop go into 256 colors, but as soon as I load a game, it goes back to 32bits.

Really? Well, how is that supposed to help give me a better fps? =/ If it goes back to 32bits, the game isnt gonna run faster... I've never seen any difference both in color and speed once the game run =/

It makes ZeroGS think your GPU doesn't support something, there for it doesn't use it, helps a lot if your GPU is the bottleneck as it uses less power on that thing.

Cant remember off the top of my head what that thing was though.
