Why spend so much money on something thats going to be obsolete in 6 months???

The C2D extreme is a waste of money. Just get a E6750 or an E6850. They are just as good essentially.
If yoru going to spend all that on the 8800 ultra, why not get the HD x2900xtx which is a better card?
Dont get 3 gigs of ram. either 2, or 4. i tried the whole 3 gig thing and it broke stuff and made my system terribly unstable. If you use 3 1 gig sticks, you lose your duel channel capabilities. If you buy 4 gigs on a 32 bit system, you will automatically lose access to how ever much ram is on your video card since 32 bit can only address 4 gigs of memory. On the other hand, you'll be ready for the switch to 64 bit, which can address 16tb of memory.

But why spend all that money on a PC. A moderatly good one for about $1000 will easily play any game out today, plus lots coming in the future. I still use components i bought 3 years ago and my pc runs great. On my P4 3.0, i can run any game that is currently out. Ther eis no use "Future proofing". You will nd up spending more money in the end if you think of it like that where you could just as easily just upgrade certain components at certain times when each different component drops to a reasonable price.

For example. I WAS going to get an E6300 when they frist came out. They were $240 at that time. I waited a year and instead of a "crappy" 6300, i got a 6750 for the same price.

Problem is now, when i get a new graphics card next month, i have to get a new power supply as well :P cause mine is only 500W

If you wait to upgrade your companents as each becomes obsolete, you will save more money. Promise.

PS. More descriptive thread titles are a good thing

shockertwin has a point. Don't upgrade or spend thousands of dollars just to attempt to get better speeds on this emulator, you may be disappointed. I suggest you wait a while before building a totally uber PC just for pcsx2 so when PC hardware gets more advanced, the stuff you would have bought earlier would be obsolete.

That PC will definitly NOT be obsolete in 6 months... Obsolete means something that is not in use anymore, or a kind of style no longer current.

All those things will STILL be used in 6 months... They won't be the top of the crop, but saying that they will be obsolete, that's going pretty far.

Anyway, let me tell you, if you buy this PC, you're better of playing something else instead of PS2 games on a emulator...

But yes, if you insist, you'll be able to play those games with a good FPS, your PC would be killing everything, and since those games are rated as ''playable'' then they will run. The only thing to stop you from playing them would be a bug or whatever.

If you are bored, sell it and buy a ps3, wille still being able to play the ps2 games, there will be new ones coming out. Or buy the Nintendo Wii, with it you'l never get bored even playing 1000 the same games. lol not really but near

How is playing on a PS2 and PC going to change your gaming experience ? If I was bored of a PS2 game...I wouldn't want to play it on either the PS2 or PCSX2 .
