What are the best RPG (or other) games that are 100% playable with PCSX2?

What are the best RPG (or other) games that are 100% playable with PCSX2?

I was looking forward to playing the following but they supposedly aren't compatible:

Final Fantasy XII
Dark Cloud 2
Suikoden V
Dragon Quest VIII

However, the following games are listed as playable and most people seem to think they are really good:

Final Fantasy X-2
Phantom Brave
Disgaea 2 (I played the first one and it was awesome)
Suikoden 1-3 (I never played any of them)

So, what are the best (and compatible!) games for PCSX2? (espicially RPGs)

i dont think there is any game that is truly 100% compat, use your ps2 if you want it to work perfectly, but the best i have tried so far is ffx, and ffxii

by all means, i wouldnt directly consider this an RPG (if anything, an action/adventure RPG, but thats a little sketch) but monster hunter works 100% for me. like seriously. i accidentally put it in wire-frame mode and it didnt look like crap. its a little choppy, and the framerate goes to 1 when you save, but otherwise it runs above 60 fps for more than half of the time.

as for FF XII it is playable just with good PC specs...but the game itself does not look 100% like on ps2 ..missing text and other nasty things....waiting for pcsx2 0.9.4

You just forget Kingdom Hearts I. The best answer is compat list or screenshot section. It's difficult to define 100% playable. But if it playable in compat list, then it can be play from the start until the end. The speed depend on your system specs.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana and Atelier Iris 2: Azoth of Destiny are games that are playable and runs really fast too, like 90 - 125 fps on this comp unlimited. Makai Kingdom and La Pucelle Tactics as well. Ys: The Ark of Napishtim should work great too.

Don't forget about Grandia 3. KH 1 & 2 are decent too.

What are your system specs? If you tell people, they can leave out any games that will run unplayably slow on your PC. I'll list the ones I've tried myself and the results I got.

I've personally played FFX to the end and it runs at good speeds on my system. I get max FPS in most areas and never fall below 35 (except when summoning Shiva).

FFX-2 is listed as playable, and gets similar speeds, but there are significant graphics glitches (you can't see what your characters are doing in some fights). I *think* I read somewhere that they will be fixed in the next version.

Suikoden 3 plays beautifully, but is a bit slower. I only get about 20 FPS.

I haven't played far into Suikoden 4 on the emu, but it seems to be similar in status to Suikoden 3.

Grandia 3: See Suikoden 4.

Kingdom Hearts: Plays great, but I only get about 1/2 speed.

Ys Ark of Napishtim plays well, minus some annoying audio glitches.

These are all great games, but it comes down to personal preference. The only one I finished on PCSX2 was FFX. As for the rest, I've only played them long enough to get an idea of how they work (a couple hours into the game, in most cases). Also, make sure you make an ISO of them. It makes a HUGE difference in many cases.

Some of you recommended Grandia 3 and Kingdom Hearts 2. Aren't they still unplayable?

I think Grandia 3 works fairly good at least for me but I haven't played it enough to say if it's possible to finish it but I think it is but it might not be a straight forward process like we saw with the person finishing FF12 in v0.9.2 which it's listed as "ingame" for. Kingdom Hearts 2 has to wait for v0.9.4 however.

Grandia 3 works more or less good, too. But there are often sound problems, like in battles. The sound gets stuck in a loop and I have to load a savestate to make it work again. Problem is that this happens like every 2 battles. Could this be due to vista and do others have those problems with grandia 3 on other OS, too?

I think that's due to using save states, sometimes it can add different kinds of problems and only way to fix it is to load a save state when the problem wasn't still there or restart the game and use only memory card saves.

I haven't encountered that problem myself. But problem is you can't load the save games from memory card with MTGS and dual core mode enabled (results in black screen when loading a saved game) so this forces you to use save states if you want to use MTGS and dual core mode in v0.9.2. It worked in v0.9.1 altho compability is worse (battles often ends up in a loop) but perhaps loading saved games from memory card with MTGS and DC mode enabled in this game will work again in v0.9.4.

Err, no. Though I have to use TLB because with the VM, I get the vmhack freeze randomly, I can save and load games using the ingame save/load points. Strange is, on the memory card in slot 1 should be the save for FFXII, but it didnt recognize it? Said everything empty, but I didnt change the memcards or anything. But I can load savegames, I get the black screen too, but thats only for like a second. Getting around 50 to 60fps in the forest outside the starting village and mostly up to 40fps in fights.

Weird well for me the black screen stays forever and yes TLB build is more compatible with this game too, noticed that on the video in the beginning of the game which always ended up in a freeze towards end of it but it seems other videos also have problems with VM build in this game. When I use save states in this game and load em then the music also ends up in a loop often.

no, i got the same exact problem in Xp sp2. finished it in at least 100 hours of playing, 2-3 times normal, because repetitive loadstate and savestate .

as for KH2 are very slow, and crash almost all times.
Dragon quest VIII is quite playable 20-40 fps with the 256 color trick.
All nippon ichi games are very compatible with pcsx2 and quite playable with low end rig.

You can load grandia 3 saves in the VM build like Thunderhit said, but you need to switch off MTGS and DC.
But it is still the most compatible with TLB, it's just gonna be a bit slower.

Yea I know that's why I wrote earlier:

It works in TLB build but too bad there's an unusual huge difference in speed between TLB and VM build in this game.
