Pcsx2 crashes upon exit

Greetings everyone,

I have no idea how to close pcsx2 properly without it locking up my pc. I can close it in window mode by pressing ESC, another pcsx2 window pops up and I can hit exit. But if I hit the X in the window or if its in full screen mode I have no way to close it out without it freezing my pc up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Geforce 6800gs sli
Creative X-Fi extreme music

I hope that info about my rig helps solve the problem a bit.

Thanks everyone!

Even in full screen mode? I can't exit full screen unless pcsx2 locks up and I can't make it back to the desktop to alt+tab close the program.

Try this: when in fullscreen, press ESC (the game should hang). Then, press ALT+F4.

EDIT: oh and, btw, it doesn't crash. It's just that it doesn't return to desktop when you hit ESC, so it seems to be halt

People shouldn't be pressing escape in the first place, you're meant to come out of fullscreen mode via ALT+ENTER.

I tried that, its the most obvious approach. But every time I did the emulator just locked up and I would have to restart.

if a application hangs u don't need to restart every time... just set under power options "if push power button" got to standby - if ur pc or an application seems to hang (not responding - ur not able to open the task manager and so on) press the power button - in nearly 95 % of all cases the pc switch to standby mode - press the power button again and u'll see the logon screen - the hanging application is minimized and ur able to open the task manager and end the app.

i do this because i'm hate to restart my pc

... just a hint - the solution 4 ur problem is written above
