Not Reading Blank Media

my DVD writer, has stopped reading blank DVD-R media so im unable to write to disks.. it used to work :S

any ideas whats happened?

kinda same thing for me. itunes wont detect blank discs for me to burn to. i have to use nero instead which is a hassle.

Look for updates to your DVD drive. I had a similar problem reading every other disc of my Taiyo Yuden batch and a firmware update fixed the problem.

Most drives have problems reading blank media. Try using non-blank media and see if you can read it.

Mine had the same problem.
I opened it, cleaned the lens, but after a couple of weeks the problem came back.
I did that again, but gave up, since its too much hassle to open the dvd drive every week or so...

On a serious note thou. Can it read/write cd-r's or is that also a problem. Maybe your power-supply is acting up or your cables are wrong or loose. Though refraction is right its probably your burner about to die. Do you use it often?
