Fallout 3 Facts That Could Save Your Life!

More Fallout 3 facts!

Quote:
Combat in Fallout 3 is what I like to call "Freeze-Based-Combat". It's not precisely real-time, nor is it truly turned-based. After clicking on an enemy, the V.A.T.S. (Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System) comes on-screen, dividing the target into what can best described as a butcher's chart. You have a percentage chance to hit whatever zone of the body you're aiming for, each with a different possible effect. For example, if you do X amount of damage to a leg, there's a chance you could cripple or even blow it off. If you try to shoot a weapon out of someone's hands, there's a chance to disarm for opponent, or even break the item in question. I'm not 100% sure if you can run around and play in all real-time, but they didn't seem very keen on the idea of making Fallout 3 a run-and-gun, twitchy first-person-shooter.

I'm not really sure what I should think about it. It looks quite good (for now), but I would like to see it in motion before I say something wrong. :P

I'm not the biggest Fallout fan or whatever, but i can really feel the post-apocalyptic vibe from the screens and the trailer i saw. I am still cautiously optimistic though. With Bethesda, you never know what you will get.

looks pretty cool. Probably needs some beefy requirements though.

I like the screens and the idea of keeping the "stats-skills-perks" and round based(ish) gameplay...

Was this directed against the producers or us?

Against the producers, Intel, AMD/ATI, Nvidia....moronic corporations who keep releasing products every 3 months and keep draining the pockets of we the consumers and leaving us confused and the silly game producers for tagging along and saying to us...."Hey you better follow too or else you can shove an SUV up your ass (Live Free or Die Hard one-liner by Bruce Willis...I love it... )" Seriously we consumers are being taken advantage of constantly and no one has the balls to speak up against it...Isn't there supposed to be a consumer's association somewhere that can stand up for us? I know we are not being forced to buy these ever-changing hardwares, but the corps in conjunction with the software developers (gaming in mind) don't leave us with too many options..."Hey pal either get an upgrade so you can use our product or this product wasn't meant for you" Well they can all shove it!!! It's stuff like this that makes me plan on being an emu author and game developer in the near future soon...I'll design products to suit my limitations...make sure they are damn good, release them as Open Source and take the gaming market gradually away from those nuts...A group of my colleagues have been having this discussion for a while now and we plan on forming an action group and create awarness to the PC gaming community....seriously enough is enough....The console industry is ok..I mean products are released every 5 yrs...Everything PC has to be locko...filled with bugs and market oversaturation

Fallout 3 uses the oblivion engine (just improved) and it's still over 1 year until it will be released. (fall 2008)
Crysis will be released this year and when I look at the screens...well...Crysis seems (for me) to be more hardware hungry.
So I think it's the best just to wait for more news, because it's too early to say what system you really need. And if it will be so, the community will release low-res mods and configuration hints (like for Oblivion )

Don't worry, your suffering will be over within a couple of years, seeing how most software publishers are slowly cutting down on their consumer support by releasing bugged to hell PC games that only run on a PC twice the price of a console. Result: Consoles gain popularity, they get more games, and PCs get more crappy ports, thus we have a nice circle.
