Will Splinter Cell Double Agent PC version work for me?

I read that Splinter Cell Double Agent PC requires a card with Shader Model 3.0....The thing is my card has Shader Model 2.0....Will the game be playable for me, even at the lowest settings? Has someone with a Shader Model 2.0 card actually played the game?My specs are

AMD Turion 64 Mobile@1.8GHz
1GB RAM
128MB ATI Radeo Xpress 200M( @350MHz)+128MB shared memory=256MB

It won't work on Shader Model 2 cards, believe me I have tried. I had to eventually purchase a PC with a Geforce 6150 to actually play this game at a slow laggy speed.

If you're card doesn't support Shader Model 3, the game will crash while attempting to load a level with a shader/directx type error

Well i'm also having quite a hard time trying to get this game running. It's buggy as hell and ubisoft is not really doing anything about that issue it seems. I'd like to take this opportunity to ask if anybody with a gt 8 series card got this game running flawlessly and with what forceware drivers.

no problem running on my card (ati 9800 512), pretty much every high-end games run on my machine without a single hic up @ max setting.

PS. its best if you read the back of the cover and meet the " best requirement" not minimal requirement or you'll suffer from lag-sickness.

I think you mean 1800 512, not 9800 512, surely ?

Theres no way you would be able to run this game, and any of today's games, on a card thats pushing 4 years old, and shader model 2.

For others, taken from the game's requirements.

Supported OS: Windows® XP (only)
Processor: 3 Ghz Pentium® 4 or AMD Athlon™ 3000 (3.5 Ghz Pentium 4 or Athlon 3500 recommended). Game optimized for Dual-processor-enabled computers.
RAM: 1 GB
Video Card: DirectX® 9.0c-compliant, Shader 3.0-enabled 128 MB video card (256 MB recommended) (see supported list*)
Sound Card: DirectX® 9.0c-compatible (EAX" recommended) - PC audio solution containing Dolby® Digital Live required for Dolby Digital audio.
DirectX Version: 9.0c or higher (9.0c included on disc)
DVD-ROM: 4x DVD-ROM or faster
Hard Drive Space: 8 GB
Peripherals Supported: Mouse, keyboard
Multiplay: Broadband connection with 128 kbps upstream or faster

Splinter Cell: Double Agent on a Radeon 9800, I don't think so.

The game clearly requires a Shader Model 3.0 or Better card (Geforce 6xxx Series), the Radeon 9800 only supports Pixel Shading 2.0.

The game will clearly crash upon loading a level With a DX/Shader error if your card doesn't meet the shader 3.0 requirement regardless of what Shader bypassing tool you have such as 3d analyze.

Believe me I've already tried it with 3d analyze and nvhardpage on a Shader Model 2.0 card and regardless it fails miserably and crashes upon loading a level without Shader Model 3.0 compliant graphics card.

So I really doubt you are Playing Splinter Cell: Double Agent on a Radeon 9800 and I call fud on that.

You Probably have Double Agent confused with previous Splinter Cell games such as Chaos Theory, and Pandora Tomorrow which will run on a Radeon 9800.

Are you sure you mean a Radeon X19800 instead (If there is one), because Double Agent Will Not Run On A Radeon 9800 or any other Shader Model 2.0 card or below

He's got an X1900XT as far as I know (other threads + Xfire profile). Otherwise his claim of every new game running without a hiccup at max settings would be a lie. A 9800 doesn't pull off such a thing. Also, there's no 512mb 9800

It's not like my rig can't handle the game, the problem is the buggyness of it. I'm just happy i got it for 8 €.

Splinter Cell: Double agent doesn't break the same type of graphical boundaries that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion did, and unfortunately there seem to be a lot of technical problems with the game. Aspects of the game feel rushed, and even though there is a patch available which addresses some issues (such as anti-aliasing) the game is still rife with bugs and glitches. Luckily though, when working the game itself is very enjoyable and a great addition to the series; we just wish Ubisoft could have waited till they fixed many of the technical issues in the game before they released it (or better yet, address the issues and release the game on schedule in the first place).

And by the way i don't know if you checked my signature but i believe my rig can handle scda...

Welcome to modern age PC gaming, where having high end hardware does not pay off...

And remember not to use third party drivers, some can really screw up the game.
